Ready to climb? City and the Sgurr should really be named “The Sgurr”, because it’s all about this climb. (Sgurr is Gaelic for “high sharp-pointed hill”, and the Sgurr’s summit is the highest point on the Scotland map.)
Races here will be interesting, since one side of the Sgurr is gravel, while the other is paved.

Want to try running on Zwift? Runpods 50% off through March 5.
Do you want to try running on Zwift, but don’t have the equipment to make it happen? Zwift just announced a 50% off sale on their already-affordable Runpod!
The discount is supporting Tour de Zwift Run, which means the sale ends March 5.
Connecting to Zwift Run
Running on Zwift is free (that’s right, no paid membership needed). But to run on Zwift, you need a device that can send your running data to the game. The list of compatible devices includes:
Whatever device you use for detecting your running speed on Zwift, you want something that is accurately reflecting your actual speed. Devices vary in terms of accuracy, with quality smart treadmills, STRYD footpads, and the NPE Runn sensor all delivering very good accuracy.
Watches, smart shoes, and other footpods will vary in accuracy depending on how well they’re calibrated, how variable your speed is, etc.
In our tests, the Zwift Runpod delivers acceptable accuracy, broadcasting speed, cadence, and distance. It’s not the most accurate footpod out there (the STRYD gets that award), but the STRYD also costs $249USD!
If you’re looking to test Zwift run before making an investment in a higher-end device like a smart treadmill or more expensive sensor, take advantage of this sale and give the Runpod a try. Calibration is built into the game, it’ll work on any treadmill (or even outside), and the price is right.
Zwift’s annual fondo series is a popular tradition where thousands of riders push themselves to finish long rides. The series began in December, when (according to ZwiftPower) over 9000 riders finished their fondos!
February’s rides are this weekend, making this your first chance to earn the final Fondo jersey in your set of three. Here are all the details about this weekend’s events…
February Fondo Schedule
The weekend kicks off at midnight February 2 GMT, which is 7pm EST/4pm PST.
Events repeat every 3 hours until 3am February 6 GMT.
Each month of this year’s series rotates between these two sets of routes. January used the 2022 routes, while February (this weekend) will use the original routes, and so on.
Kit Unlocks
New this year, each fondo length has its own unique kit unlock. Here’s a shot of all three kits:
These kits are exclusive, meaning they will never be available anywhere else. A true badge of honor, even the “salmon and chocolate” Bambino kit.
You have four months left to unlock all three, but if you are up for the challenge, see if you can ride all three distances in one weekend.
Is this a race?
Officially, no. But thousands of riders will turn out for each of these popular “fun race” events, and the front of each category will certainly be filled with strong riders going all out.
How the Categories Work
Unlike other Zwift events, the A, B, and C groups don’t refer to rider strength or fitness. Instead, they correspond to route and distance options:
A Group (~90 km Gran Fondo)
B Group (~80 km Medio fondo)
C Group (~50 km Bambino fondo)
Fondo Friday Workouts
Looking for a fondo-focused workout? “Fondo Friday” group workouts are available on Fridays of all non-fondo weekends.
Zwift says: “Fondo Fridays include a selection of workouts from the Gran Fondo Training Plan, designed to take you from couch to gran fondo distance before the series ends. Fondo Friday weekly workouts are around one hour and occur every three hours, beginning December 9 and concluding on March 24. Workouts are also available on-demand in the workouts training plan folder.”

Gravel Mountain was built as a test to see whether compelling worlds/maps/routes could be created using a more streamlined workflow, but it appeared that the project was abandoned soon after the world’s assets showed up in the game files in April 2022. Here’s what Zwift had to say about it back then:
Gravel Mountain is the code name for a new experiential event-only map developed by our game team as they explore new ways to build maps and worlds with greater efficiency. As an experiential map, Zwift will be hosting invite-only events to test this map for stability and eventually, new features. While we are unable to confirm when this map will be broadly available, we’re excited about what this new, faster, iterative approach means for Zwift and for map innovation in the future.
When we thought Gravel Mountain would never see the light of day, in April 2026 Zwift launched a race series featuring revamped routes on this map.

Last week Kris Yip, rider for Wahoo Le Col and an extremely notable cyclist in the real world and on Zwift, passed away suddenly. Kris began riding as a junior in his hometown, Prince George, BC, Canada. In recent years on Zwift, he has raced in the premier division of Zwift Racing League, competing amongst riders at the top of the sport. Just last year, he qualified and raced in the 2022 UCI Esports World Championships. Join team WLC and the indoor cycling community on this group ride in honor of Kris.
This 60-minute group ride hosted by WLC takes place on the R.G.V. course in France. The ride is openly paced, so riders are free to ride at whatever pace pleases them.
This weekend, Childhood Cancer Canada is hosting a group ride to raise awareness for cancer—the leading cause of death from disease in Canadian children. This foundation’s goal is to help fund research and support the families of children who have been affected by cancer.
This ride takes place over 60 minutes on the Douce France course. More information about this foundation can be found on the Childhood Cancer Canada website. This is another open-paced group ride, so smaller groups will likely be formed over the course of the 60 minutes.
Looking for a racing league that doesn’t require a team to participate? The DIRT Hors Categorie Series is a great fit. This series features four weeks of longer points races. The series also has a few key settings enabled to ensure that these races remain fair and fun for all riders. Firstly, category enforcement is enabled—this helps to prevent riders from entering the wrong category. Second, these are all private events, meaning riders have to use the link with the “secret” part at the end of the URL in order to join the event. Because of this, the race will mostly consist of riders who truly want to race hard and fair. Note: remember this is a points race, so be sure not to be caught off-guard when everyone sprints for the primes.
The course for this week’s race takes riders over the lovely roads of Yorkshirem racing on the Royal Pump Room 8 course with a custom finish atop the Yorkshire KOM. Expect this to be a hard and punchy race, as Yorkshire features one of the steepest pitches in Zwift! Complete details are available on the DIRT website.

Join team AHDR for a quicker-paced 100km group ride. AHDR is well-known for their ability to maintain large groups, and many of their rides are also led by the remarkable Tim Searle. As with most AHDR rides, this will be quicker than the traditional group ride, paced at 2.5-3 w/kg. Note: sweepers will not be present in this group ride, so be sure to hang in the group to maximize your draft effect.
This ride takes place over the Watopia’s Waistband course—a course that was recently added as a route badge and a free-rideable route. Watopia’s Waistband is the perfect course for riders to complete a 100km ride fast. Riders should expect to be finished with ride in ~2:30.
Every Sunday, RO4H (Ride On 4 Heath) hosts a nice social group ride featuring a friendly pace and a supportive group of leaders and sweeps. Leaders and sweeps will aim to ensure that no riders have to ride by themselves. Sweepers will be present in this ride to help riders who fall off the back of the group get back to the peloton. This ride is a great way for riders to improve their endurance while engaging with other riders.
This week, riders will be on the Douce France course for 90 minutes. The ride is paced at 1-2.5 w/kg, with the pace remaining below 2 w/kg on the climbs.
Zwift is a platform that has always sought to make cycling social, whether you are riding for a fun fitness option or training for a race. Joining a team with a women’s contingent can bring a lot of joy and organizational, logistical, and technical assistance. Plus, the conversations on Zwift, on Facebook, and in Discord servers are helpful at least and uplifting and nourishing at best.
There are so many great teams out there, and joining one is the first real step in the journey to discover your inner racer. Below is a list of major women’s teams. We’ll be building out this list with descriptions of each team and an explanation of how to join.
Absque Fines p/b Wolfe
Pronounced “aub-sqwey finesse”, this team was originally made possible by friends who wanted to race together on the A circuits. We focus on getting a true race experience out of each event—recons, race prep and practice attacks/scrimmage, DS on-staff with racers, post-race write-ups, etc. We are very small and close-knit because of it. We look for willing participants who will invest themselves into the team and show up on a semi-regular basis for all kinds of races, not just ZRL.

Our primary focus now is ZRL, mixed teams with focused women’s teams (Eastern, and Western America Division) but we continue to TTT, participate in Duathlon league, Herd weekend series, and SNOW sprint series when it is running. We believe in grassroots development, so our D racers are as integral to the team as our A racers. We don’t actively recruit. We don’t want to be too large of a team where we don’t know each other. We keep our membership open to friends and if someone approaches us to join. Lastly, our team is active racing IRL in multiple sports including triathlon, duathlon, marathon, road, gravel, mtb, and cyclocross. We even race motorcycles and cars. We do it all.

We’re connected to the real-life I Race Like A Girl team run by Angela Naeth, who was one of our founding members. We are a team that focuses on inclusion, healthy relationships with sport, and community connection. We still have a large percentage of triathletes, but also plenty of pure cyclists, and lead multiple group rides and workouts for the broader community each week. We aim to grow and develop our team organically and ensure that every athlete who wants to race has the opportunity and support to have a good experience.

Whether you are an avid cyclist, a weekend warrior, trying to stay fit, a triathlete, a duathlete, or just like a good challenge, Zwift racing really does have something for everyone.
In many parts of the world, we are pushed indoors to train due to extreme weather (both hot and cold), unsafe roads, juggling life priorities (work, family, friends, health), or time constraints. For some, this might mean biking in the depths of a basement, a cold garage, or wherever one can find space for a setup.
In the past, this meant potentially spending hours alone. Then along comes Zwift and, in particular, Zwift racing!
Whether you are a seasoned Zwifter, or just getting started, here are our top 10 reasons to race on Zwift:
#1: Perfect Weather
Let’s face it, the weather is rarely perfect and especially in the cold and dark winter months, motivation to go out on our bikes is pretty much like the outside temperatures: below 0. Zwift allows you to ride regardless of the weather outside. And it’s much more fun to watch your avatar battle the elements than having freezing fingers and toes yourself!
#2: Use Your Own Equipment
You go to the gym, and there the dreaded spin bike awaits. Or worse, your parent’s fitness ergometer. As a multisport athlete you want to get used to your equipment and more specifically to your bike setup as much as possible. Zwift allows you to do just that. Whether you use a dumb or a smart trainer, you can ride your own bike and get used to where your bottles are and all those little things that may impact your race if you are not used to them.
#3: Don’t Be a One-Man Band
Triathletes and Duathletes are often independent individuals because in triathlon and duathlon, unlike in team sports, there aren’t ten other people around you that push you. But wait! On Zwift, there is a lively culture of Community Teams you can join and thus feel part of a team. Various team events (group rides, workouts, and races) take you away from always flying solo. When you join the merry band of riders, it’s easier to get on your bike and put in the work.
#4: Practice Race-Specific Skills
Whether you are a sprint distance or long-distance athlete, a draft legal racer, or a non-drafting athlete, Zwift allows you to hone your race-specific skills, even right down to transition practice. In the weekly Zwift Club iTT league, you can practice your time-trialing skills with routes each week getting longer. As a draft legal racer you can join the ZRacing Series or the regular Crit Club Races to practice your drafting and your sprints out of the corner. And if you fancy some transition practice, the weekly Zwift Duathlon league with a 30-minute cycle followed by a 20-minute run is the place to go.
#5: Test Your Limits
In the weekly Zwift Racing League you can truly test your limits. And it’s all down to being part of your six-women team fighting tooth and nail to score points to win your league. The various formats (scratch, points, and team time trial) offer plenty of variation, and the different courses please different rider types.
If eyeballs-out racing are not your thing, then maybe pushing your distance beyond your usual limit might be more appealing. On the weekends, you can join various Fondo-style group rides to enjoy a long Sunday ride with a group of like-minded people.
#6: Bang for Your Buck
With all that Zwift has to offer in terms of rides, workouts, and races, you get an incredible amount of value for your hard-earned pennies. At any time of day you can find a ride, a race, or access the substantial workout library. Workouts are updated and the library expanded regularly, so it’s never boring. Multi-week Training Plans target specific skills (for instance FTP Booster). And on a regular basis, well-known athletes invite the community for joint workouts. (On one particular occasion there were more than 3,000 Zwifters riding a workout with Jan Frodeno, with Jan happily chatting away on Zwift, responding to questions from the group.)
#7: Community
Community is at the heart of Zwift. Whether it’s through a team or through themed rides or rides hosted by specific interest groups, there’s something for almost everyone on Zwift – as long as you run or ride. This makes Zwift such a fantastic place to make new friends or stay in touch with old ones. When Christine moved from Scotland back to Germany, she regularly scheduled a meet-up with friends and they kept riding together on Sundays like they used to. There will always be someone with a similar interest who can answer questions or offer advice.
#8: Encouragement
The best way to experience Zwift racing is by being part of a team. Yes, you are virtual and may have never met your teammates IRL, but the bonds and friendships that come out of racing on a team are just as strong as if you were right next to each other. Finding the right team is a game-changer for racing on Zwift. Your teammates get to know you, your strengths, and where you need to improve so they can encourage you every step of the way. The women racing in Zwift are so positive and encouraging – your teammates will be your best cheerleaders on and off Zwift and provide support and advice and push you to go that extra mile when you don’t think you have anything left.
#9: Strategies and Tactics
Just like IRL, racing with a team on Zwift gives you an opportunity to leverage the strengths of each individual and provides an opportunity to try out new strategies and tactics depending on the race, format, and even course. The best part is, if execution does not go exactly as planned, you are chatting online and can switch strategies on the fly.
#10: Entertainment
Let’s face it: sitting on your trainer and pedaling away can become quite boring and, at worst, demotivating. With Zwift steering, your trainer adjusting resistance on hills, and the landscape changing constantly, there’s always something new to discover. Each world in Zwift has its unique Easter eggs waiting to be discovered. Have you spotted Jarvis the bear trying to grab his honey pot? Or the Yeti living up the Alpe de Zwift?

UPDATE: Zwift released a patch on Friday afternoon, version 1.33.1, which seems to fix this issue.
Yesterday’s Zwift update appears to have affected Erg mode for some Zwifters, resulting in Zwift not controlling your trainer resistance as it should in ERG.
There’s a long forum thread already developing around this issue, and Zwift is working on fixing it. (I’m sure it’s a top priority, since ERG workouts are a very popular activity on the platform.)
Based on the reports I’m seeing, the problem is largely restricted to Windows users. It’s occurring both on ANT and Bluetooth connections, on a wide variety of trainers. So the issue doesn’t seem to be trainer-specific, or even connection-specific.
I tested it on my end with Windows 11 via ANT and Bluetooth with a KICKR v6. Interestingly, ERG worked properly for me with Bluetooth, but did not work with ANT.
Quick Companion Workaround
While some users are saying that restarting Zwift or swapping between ANT and Bluetooth connections fixed the problem, the only reliable workaround at this time seems to be switching to using Bluetooth through the Companion app as your trainer connection, instead of ANT or Bluetooth on your Windows machine. Here’s how to get that done…
Prerequisites
To use Zwift Companion as your trainer connection, you’ll need to:
Have the Companion app installed and running on your phone/tablet
Have your phone/tablet on the same local network as the PC you use for Zwifting
Have Bluetooth connections turned on on your phone/tablet, so Companion can “see” your trainer
Simple Steps
Once you’ve got Companion running as per above, follow these simple steps:
1: Start up Zwift on your PC
2: On the Pairing screen, click the gear at the top-right and select “Use Zwift Companion”
3: In the “Controllable” box, choose the item which shows your trainer name next to a mobile phone
You should be good to go!
Related Issues
Some riders are reporting that gradient simulation in Zwift isn’t working properly either since the update – this is probably related to the same bug that is affecting Erg mode.
Also, I noticed that the Companion app didn’t properly show my workout details as rode. Instead, it showed this super-goofy screen:
This bug has been reported to Zwift and seen by multiple users as well.
Questions or Comments?
There are a few other bugs popping up with yesterday’s update, which I’ll add to the main release post. But if you have comments or questions about this specific ERG bug, feel free to post below or on the forum thread.
This update includes new levels for runners, a raft of HoloReplay improvements, and a new Scotland map we don’t get to ride quite yet. (Of course, there’s also a pile of bug fixes.) Let’s dig into the details…
This will be an event-only world for now, and the first events held on it will be Tour de Zwift stage 8 on February 3-5. Additional events will be held in the days following the TdZ stage, so watch for more to come!
New Levels for Runners
Runners were previously capped at level 21, but today’s update increases that to level 30. We’ve added the new unlocks to our Zwift Run Basics: XP Points, Levels, and Unlocks page, and here’s what they look like:
Level 22 Zwift Tank Top 1
Level 23 Cute Animal Socks
Level 23 Cute Animal SocksLevel 24 Zwift Tank Top 2Level 25 Saucony Endorphin Pro
Level 26 Orange Visor
Level 27 Monochrome Tank
Level 28 Fruit Socks
Level 28 Fruit Socks
Level 29 Fluoro Tank
Level 30 Adidas Adios Pro shoes
Runners… Accelerate!
Like Zwift did when adding cycling levels 51-60, if runners have earned run XP above level 21, their leveling up will be accelerated by 2x to make use of the XP they’ve already earned. Read more about how this acceleration works >
HoloReplay Expansion and Improvements
Zwift’s new HoloReplay feature is getting a big expansion in this update! Previously it only replayed your efforts on in-game leaderboard segments (sprints, KQOMs, and orange jersey routes). But with today’s update, HoloReplays are now being recorded and spawned for all in-game routes!
That means any route you ride moving forward will record to Zwift’s servers, and you can spawn a HoloReplay the next time you ride that route. As ever, you can set your HoloReplays to show your PR effort, last effort, or both.
HoloReplays will be recorded from all non-rubberbanded activities, and will only spawn in free rides (including RoboPacer rides).
With two HoloReplay options (PR or last effort) plus segment and route spawning, you could be riding with four different replays at once!
Two Additional HoloReplay Improvements
Several new elements were added to the HUD to help Zwifters identify information about their HoloReplays, including a gate at the start and finish arch of segments, icons on the minimap when a HoloReplay will spawn, and iconography in the segment times list displaying which times will spawn a HoloReplay.
HoloReplays are now more courteous, waiting for you at the beginning of the segment.
More Fixes and Tweaks
A few more fixes were noted in this release:
The 2021 Zwift Academy Tri TT helmet should now appear correctly for Zwifters on PC and Android
Fixed some bugs caused by late joining events.
Fixed a bug that sometimes caused Trainer Difficulty to revert to the max setting
Fixed an issue that would cause HoloReplays to keep waiting for the Zwifter at the start of a segment when the option to turn them off was selected. They’ve learned manners now and will kindly leave when asked.
Fixed a bug where Build Me Up Lite workout information wasn’t displaying in the Workout Details screen
Minor audio fix to the RideOn to only play one sound
Minor audio fix for removing the ‘Close the Gap’ notification sound
PC & Mac: Improved navigation using the tab key on the signup screen for PC / Mac devices
PC: There is a new minimum mandatory version of the launcher app: v1.1.5 for Windows users
Android: Menu button is better aligned on the screen.
Distance counter is behaving strangely (a less common issue than the others above)
Broken routes: events which begin in either of the two Yumezi-based start pens in Makuri Islands are routing incorrectly. Free riding appears to work properly for these routes. (Zwift is working on a fix, anticipated to land in the next few days.) Also, the Ocean Lava Cliffside Loop appears to be routing incorrectly, even for free riding.
