2022 Medio Fondo

Route Description

We begin just like the 2022 Gran Fondo route: in downtown Watopia, heading around the Volcano then out past the Spruce Goose and up the beginning of the Epic KOM Reverse before cutting across via the cliffside KOM cutoff road.

Then we head up through the redwoods to Fuego Flats Reverse, circling back to Fuego Flats forward. Now the route deviates from the Gran Fondo because we turn right into Titans Grove, hitting our first KOM of the day: Titans Grove Forward.

After the Titans Grove rollercoaster we make our way back through downtown Watopia and over the Esses to the Sprint Reverse and over the Hilly KOM Reverse. Then it’s back to Fuego Flats Forward for more flat, fast desert.

Rest those legs – your final challenge awaits after you descend through the redwoods from Fuego Flats. It’s time to take on the Epic KOM. You’ve got this!

Hi Eric, as always the site rocks but a quick question on the Fondo routes. What/when are the events for the rides? Are these separate from the TDZ?

Never mind, I am an idiot and just didn’t read the lead in to the article…as with the lead-ins for the routes in Zwift I zone out and don’t pay attention…All apologies

This is going to be a fun route. Is there any way to take the Strava segment and import the gpx file into BestBikeSplit to estimate time?/

Would be great if you could get these Fondo routes added to ZwiftHub, along with other more recent routes, I find the format of the route image that ZwiftHub uses to be the best visual layout for most routes for some reason – @Eric Schlange

Hey Eric, The JWB Sprints are both Reverse? Aren’t they from both directions?

Is it recommend to change over to a mountain/gravel set-up when you get to the desert on this route?

No, there is no serious gravel on this route. Fast set that you can climb with for the epic finish.
