All About Tour de Zwift Ride 2024

Get a BIG Discount On Your Tour de Zwift Kit

Been riding Tour de Zwift and want to rock the same kit IRL as you do in the TdZ events? Here’s our tip: buying the Tour de Zwift bundle cuts the price in half ($190/£142.50/€172.50), then you can further reduce the price by using the TdZ discount code ZWIFT24 for an additional $60/£50/€55 off!

First launched in 2017, Tour de Zwift is the biggest annual tour on the platform – a celebration of discovery across all Zwift worlds!

This year’s tour has just been announced. Beginning January 3, it consists of eight stages spread across all of Zwift’s maps. Each stage has three group ride options based on how far you want to ride, with (new this year) races each weekend. (There are run options as well, which we’ve covered in this post.)

So grab a friend and join the biggest party of the year! Here’s everything riders need to know about this year’s TdZ.

New This Year

Fresh Route Badges

Recently-launched Rebel Route badges will be available on stage 8:

TdZ will be the first chance anyone gets to unlock these three route badges, since they were formerly Rebel Routes.

Weekend Races

This year TdZ isn’t just about group rides. Each stage’s long route will be available as an epic race event on the weekend! See schedule below.

Fresh Kit Unlocks (and IRL Le Col Kit Discount)

Zwift partnered with Le Col to bring the Tour de Zwift collection to life. Complete any stage to unlock a £50 ($60/€55/¥9000) reward from Le Col to use for the IRL kit (details below).

Ride and Race Categories

TdZ “Ride” events are group rides, not official races. The ride category you join determines which route you will ride:

  • A: Long Ride
  • B: Standard Ride
  • C: Short Ride
  • D: Women-Only Ride (uses the Standard route)

Category groups will leave the pens two minutes apart, with A starting first. Late join is enabled for TdZ events.

Weekend Epic Races will use Zwift’s category enforcement to automatically place riders into the correct pace group.

Stage Schedule and Route Details

Stage 1 (Jan 3-7): London/Yorkshire

Stage 2 (Jan 8-12): Scotland

Stage 3 (Jan 13-17): Makuri Islands

Stage 4 (Jan 18-22): France/Paris

Stage 5 (Jan 23-27): Innsbruck

Stage 6 (Jan 28-Feb 1): Watopia

Stage 7 (Feb 2-6): New York/Richmond

Stage 8 (Feb 7-11): Rebel Routes

Three of Zwift Insider’s Rebel Routes have been turned into official routes which will see their debut in Tour de Zwift! Here’s your first chance to earn the new route badges and extra XP.

Make-Up Week: Feb 12-18

If you missed any group ride stages, they will all be available to ride during the make-up week.

Make-up races for stages 1, 3, 4, and 8 will be available February 17-18.

Registration

Registration for TdZ is now open online and in game. Sign up at zwift.com/tour-de-zwift/ride.

Unlocks

Riders will unlock items progressively as they complete TdZ stages:

  • Socks: 1 stage (12%)
  • Bucket Hat: 3 stages (35%)
  • Glasses: 6 stages (75%)
  • Ride Kit: all 8 stages

To complete a stage, simply finish one of the group rides (three lengths to choose from) or ride the stage’s Epic Race on a weekend.

Discount on Le Col Kit

Zwift and Le Col are teaming up to bring the 2024 Tour de Zwift cycling kit to your closet:

Le Col is offering a £50/$60/€55/¥9000 discount to Tour de Zwift riders which can be used on anything in Le Col’s shop (not just the TdZ kit)! Discount code is ZWIFT24. Combine that with the Tour de Zwift bundle price, and you’ll get the kit to your door in the USA for ~$144!

Will stage completion be available on solo rides or do you have to join a group ride to get the credit?

Why don’t the Epic Races count? Surely they should if they are branded Tour de Zwift; did 2 today for zero stages, sigh.

I’ll do the middle (<1h) and smallest one (right after it) on one day and the longest one on another. I don't pre-schedule the make-up week myself and keep it as a real back-up.

Does Zwift have something against primary colors? I have a garage full of pastel Zwift kits that I never use and it’s getting a little old. The vast majority of their kit unlocks are very feminine IMO.

I guess the downvotes mean I’m not allowed to like certain colors? Ok.

What makes a color “very feminine”? 🤔

I’m not trying to be offensive and hopefully it wasn’t taken that way. I’m going to assume there’s no answer I could give that would be acceptable to all parties, so if you Google search “feminine colors” you’ll see what I’m referring to. I realize males can also like those colors, but I was speaking in the traditional sense.

The Tour of Watopia kit has no lavender whatsoever but the colours are still cringe. How about that impressive century grey? The lederhosen? You can at least sport the ugly Christmas sweater for a few more days. Wave to me in the invisible Festive500 jersey, come the new year I’ll be back in my pineapple shorts.

Funny that you should comment this. As a woman, I was just wondering why they can’t come up with some more attractive kits! I mean, they’re virtual – how hard can it be? That jersey is ghastly for either gender. Zwift – please check out Cafe du Cycliste or some other stylish brand for partnership and ideas.

There’s nothing wrong with saying a color palate is traditionally feminine. And there’s also nothing wrong with traditionally feminine color palates. But you’re right, all the Tour kits are super pastel, light, “faded”, and with no real strong colors or design elements. They just simply are never what I would consider attractive for any gender. I do wish they had more striking, bold, and unique designs. Most of them are digital-only so it’s not like there are the complexities of real-world manufacturing.

I never liked the TdZ jerseys either… I think they try to distance themselves from common cycling jerseys. But why not play with bold and strong colors, high contrast and colorful designs?

Are they “feminine”? I’m not sure, I guess they could have leaned into the Barbie palette a bit more if they had wanted to. But what they are is kind of ugly frankly. I’m not exactly known for my taste in color combination but that jersey can’t possibly be considered nice by anyone.

Those weekends, are they “races too” or “races only”? I often want to do the longest ride in the weekends and like the “not really a race, but let’s go crazy” mentality rather than a real race.

Just an FYI to anyone that needs to make-up a Stage 7 TdZ 2024. The only current available options will be to sign up for a Stage 7 “RACE” (Everything Bagel) from Feb 9 – 11. Make-up “Rides” are not available for this stage. I for one am not a competitive rider but will welcome the challenge as something new.

I’m clearly confused, because:
Stage 1 (Jan 3-7): London/Yorkshire

  • Long Ride: Triple Loops, 1 lap (41.3km, 544m)
  • Races January 6-7”

Perhaps not all weekend long rides were races?

I had a similar weird situation I just posted. I started two minutes late, then it teleported me to the group, but at the first turn it had me go in a different direction than the group. I just kept riding and it actually took about 1.5 times the total distance and climbing until I received the route complete banner. I never saw another soul on the entire ride. Weird.

Hello mates! I missed Tour of Zwift Stage 4 on Roule ma Poule route. Didn’t See any other slot planned for this stage 4. If I ride the route outside the specific rides will I be granted for the stage accomplishment? Thanks

Russ Berkowitz

Hi all. Last night I joined Stage 5 A-route a couple minutes late. Zwift let me join, but for the entire time I never visually saw any other riders (no avatars or even dots on the map). It said I was at position 48/105, so I’m guessing I would have seen someone. Also, the route it took me on took much longer to complete. Rather than the advertised 30 miles + 3,000 ft climbing (give or take), I didn’t cross the “banner” and get the “Stage 5 completed” message until I rode a total of 43.23 miles and climbed a total of 4,820 ft. I just kept riding after the planned 30 miles thinking that maybe I had to ride a bit farther because I started two minutes late. Also, the graphic that shows how far you have left to ride went down to zero at the planned 30 mile route length. THen it just stayed at zero for another 7 miles or so. Then at 37 miles ridden, it turned back on and said I have 30,000 feet remaining and started counting down. And magically, once it counted down all the way to zero feet remaining, it gave me the Route completed message. Very weird. Anyone else ever experience this behavior?

I just exchanged a message with someone else who had a similar experience. After joining late, I was riding with the group, but the first turn made me go left, while everyone else went right. Seems like a bug.
