The Zwift Big Spin: Adventure is Calling

Today Zwift announced the third edition of their popular Big Spin, a prize-filled group ride series kicking off March 16!

This year’s theme is “Adventure is Calling”, with each week’s ride and prize spinner themed after a different Watopian biome. Read on for details…

Mystery Spinners

Zwift has rolled out a fun new Easter egg this year: Mystery Spinners placed at the end of some Watopia segments! These spinners just went live today and will be in Watopia until the end of Big Spin 2026.

Mystery Spinners unlock Big Spin “vault” prizes – items from past Zwift Big Spins in 2024 and 2025. That’s a big list of prizes which includes the BMX Bandit from 2025, the Atomic Cruiser from 2024, various pieces of footwear and headwear, and eight different kits.

Learn more by reading our dedicated Mystery Spinners post: “Big Spin Mystery Spinners in Watopia: Locations and Prizes“.

Schedule + Routes

Big Spin events are scheduled hourly at the half-hour mark.

  • Stage 1 (Desert Discovery): March 16-22
  • Stage 2 (Hidden Temple): March 23-29
  • Stage 3 (Lost Coast Adventure): March 30-April 5
  • Stage 4 (Titans Grove): April 6-12
  • Make-Up Week: April 13-19

See upcoming events at zwift.com/the-zwift-big-spin >

On-Demand Stages

Need more spins so you can unlock that sweet MX Rider, or perhaps you’re looking to ride a different Big Spin route than Zwift has scheduled for the week? You can complete Big Spin stages on-demand, meaning you ride the route on your own schedule, not in the official Zwift events.

(You can also organize Meetups, Club Rides, or do the route during a workout. Just make sure you finish the route in order to get credit and a spin.)

Completing a stage on demand will still get you a prize spin, and you can complete the same stage as many times as you’d like, whenever you’d like.

Prize Spinner

The Big Spin prize spinner we’ve come to love will make an appearance at the end of each Big Spin route (here’s a shot from last year’s Big Spin):

Cyclists ride through a city street in a virtual race on Zwift, with a leaderboard and stats displayed on a large screen overhead, and colorful banners lining the route.

Each time you complete a Zwift Big Spin route (in an event or on demand), the spinner will pop up to give you a prize. If it lands on a prize you’ve already won, you’ll get a healthy Drops bonus (landing on the MX Rider twice gives you a 40,000 Drops bonus, for example)!

The prize spinner has 6 slots, each with a different probability. One slot, the lowest probability, is reserved for the coveted MX Rider. Three more slots are for the Big Spin Tri-Spoke, Big Spin Limeade Helmet, and Jungle Phones.

The other two slots’ prizes change on each stage (see images below), giving us a total of 12 possible prizes throughout the series. These prizes won’t be available in the Drop Shop any time soon (probably never), so this may be your only known chance to unlock them.

Stage-Specific Unlocks

Fuego Flats (Stage 1)

Mayan Jungle (Stage 2)

Southern Coast (Stage 3)

Titans Grove (Stage 4)

Full Spinner Prize List:

  • Stage 1
    • Rhinestone Rider Kit
    • Rhinestone Rider Hat
  • Stage 2
    • Mayan Camo Kit
    • Paisley Bandana
  • Stage 3
    • Lumberjack Chic Kit
    • Lumberjack Chic Beanie
  • Stage 4
    • Dino-mite Kit
    • Dino-mite Hard Hat
  • Always On
    • MX Rider
    • Big Spin Tri-Spoke
    • Big Spin Limeade Helmet
    • Jungle Phones

Are these races?

Officially, no. Zwift Big Spin events are group rides without a stated pace. That means some riders will treat them as races, and the front of these rides will certainly be “spicy.”

Others will just spin their legs for a prize-laden recovery effort. You do you… just have fun!

On the very last group ride I could do, I finally got the hat, which I added to my collection of 4 MX bikes, plus assorted other items multiple times. I never got the kit though

Why is Zwift piling up all the events with overlapping periods? And then nothing till October?

Ok, but why overlapping with other events?

Shouldn’t they be doing the most events when their platform usage is at the lowest… They’re essentially advertisements to encourage people to restart their subscription. It sounds counter productive to overload them at the times of year when they already have guaranteed userbase numbers.

I pause my subscription in the spring-summer when I can start to ride outside everyday again, no amount of event incentives will get all the very many people who do similarly back onto zwift until autumn

I was trying to remember how many people participated in Big Spin this year? It was listed in the banner but I can’t find my screenshot. I think it was 100,000. That’s higher than Zwift Games and the Camp workout series.

It’s really sh*# weather in UK, so will enjoy being in the garage doing these. 👍 👍 👍

Hopefully the kits are easier to unlock this year. No matter how hard I tried, getting the Jazz solo cup kit last year was impossible.

Oh man, I want that flannel jersey. Are all of these routes loops? One of the things I didn’t like in previous years is that some of the routes didn’t loop, so if you did them on demand as part of a workout, you only hit the wheel once.

Can I ride through a mystery spinner multiple times on a ride or are there some restrictions on how often they spin?

It seems, Eric, that there’s a 20 times limit.

I tried drop farming on the Stoneway Sprint Reverse segment, and only the first 20 times gave me a reward 😉

Explain how you “drop farm” on a certain segment, like the sprint. Do you just turn around and go back to the sprint start and do over?

Finish the full segment, not just go through the banner. And they only work in one direction.

Mystery spinner for the old prizes finish the segment. Big Spin events for the new prizes finish the route.

That depends what you want from the mystery spinners. Easiest are the Volcano Circuit and the The Classic route. Both being less than 5km so multiple laps are pretty doable.

However, The Classic route only gives out Jerseys while the Volcano Circuit only gives out headgear and glasses from the past years.

They have probably put the bikes on the more difficult KOM’s.

But for drops the Volcano Circuit and The Classic route are the best.

Already owned kit spin on Jarvis KOM gave me 15k drops
Already owned helmet spin on Volcano Circuit gave me 10k drops

So taking strictly the loop into account, Jarvis was at least for me slightly more profitable with 25.91 drops/sec vs 23.15 drops/sec for Volcano.

Try Watopia Hilly Route, 2Km from Downtown to just past KOM spin banner so that activity saves. Jersey prizes so far for me (London Punk and Funky Tile).

I just did “The Classic”. I think Deca Dash” just does 10 laps of the same route.
Starting “The Classic” as a free ride put me right next to the arch on Jarvis Island at the bottom of the KOM.

No, Deca goes the other way around. Just start The Classic route and you will be doing laps around Jarvis with a spin every time you finish the KOM segment.

Yet another lap around the same tired routes, with the same rusty prizes. Innovation? Groundbreaking ideas? Nah, let’s just keep recycling the same old routine until we all forget what excitement feels like. But hey, maybe one day someone will stumble across the radical concept of variety. Velodrome races, anyone? Or is that too futuristic for this century?

brick-climber
brick-climber

This could be viewed as delayed make-up rides for prizes people want but missed out on the first time around.

I’m open for velodrome races. Perhaps have a velodrome the size of the Large Hadron Collider (27k) as well…

If you look at the “Flat our Fast” route in the companion app, within this it says 13.3 miles. However, and I noticed this after, if you open it and look at the route it says 13.9. I say this because I did the 13.3 and it did not give it to me. My point, I think it’s messed up.

Zwift really needs to implement a bad luck mechanism to increase your chances after repeated failures. I finished with 22 stages in a row without a prize. In total, I rode Stage 2 14 times and never got the bandana and Stage 4 12 times without getting the dino kit.

I rode this morning and noticed at least on the Volcano climb the mystery spinner tombstone is still showing – but there is no spinner at the top. (rode up 2x this morning).
Is there some delayed landscaping waiting to happen?
