Route Description

Begin at the coastal start pens, turning right to head toward Fuego Flats. This flattish/rolling road will take you through the Sasquatch Sprint, then the Woodland Sprint, before hitting the slack climb up to the LAX roundabout and turning around to return on the same road.

You’ll ride through the Woodland Sprint Reverse and the Sasquatch Sprint Reverse before turning around at the Cuidad la Cumbre roundabout (aka the “Summit City Velodrome“). Almost there!

Just 3 more rolling kilometers to go. Your ride ends with one more effort on the slightly uphill Sasquatch Sprint. Finish strong as you sprint past the Pumped Pancake restaurant, then flip a U-turn and grab breakfast. You’ve earned it!

Interesting. The stats on WTRL are different than this release. If I extend the end to the Acropolis Sprint instead of reversing to the Sasquatch Sprint, it matches up almost exactly to length and elevation (using Zwiftmap).

That’s what I thought it would be too. Could have been a last minute change to make it loopable which opens up the options for using the route after this event

Could be a misinterpretation by WTRL and they may have also used Zwiftmap to get distance and elevation. My elevation exactly matched theirs and distance off by less than 0.1 km. However, with this being the in game route, Zwiftmap provides a different elevation gain and distance – 148 m at 26.4 km – which is still really close to the WTRL stats of 146.5 m at 26.3 km distance.

It looks like the segment shown here extends beyond the finish line by about 600m which would account for the difference.

Do we know if any of these new event only routes will have a route badge?

It should now. Did see it in the list of routes today (don’t recall seeing this before). Coincidence that it’s this upcoming week’s route for the Big Spin, or, did I just not notice it before?

They added it months back, in the fall I think.

Any idea if this route loops at the end to make it a good choice for a group event of 60 minutes?

It does actually loop. @Eric Schlange I think the format you have listed is incorrect. Paul Z. of BMTR tested the route and then used in on the BMTR Short Adventure and it looped for a 2nd lap. We tested it further yesterday riding the longer BMTR Faster Masters ride and it continues to loop after several laps and I don’t think it’s just randomly lucky choice of turns because the mini-map continues to list the route after multiple laps. So good news for those who’d like to use this route for longer events!

Map shows a lead-in but it doesn’t show up in the stats sidebar?

Hi @Eric Schlange, can you give a heads-up when the free ride segment is created? Thanks a lot!

Good idea! No point in doing it (again) until then.
