Zwift Ride Series “Coastal Cruise” Events Announced for June

While Zwift’s big tours such as Tour of Watopia and Tour de Zwift are quite popular, they only come once a year. So Zwift has announced the first round of a new monthly group ride series, saying, “These rides are designed to mirror the experiences that zwifters have come to expect with our larger Tours, but at a shorter, scaled-back level.”

Like Zwift’s ZRacing series, each month of the Zwift Ride Series will feature weekly stages planned around a monthly theme. But these are group rides, not races. As Zwift says, “It’s not about speed—it’s all about having fun and finding your pack.”

The series kicks off in June with a “Coastal Cruise” theme with selected routes in tropical and coastal locations. So even if you aren’t able to swing that family trip to Maui this year, you can always escape into Zwift!

    Route and Schedule Details

Rides are scheduled at the top of each hour throughout the week. Each stage offers two subgroups (A & B), the only difference being that A is a longer ride than B (approximately 45 minutes vs 30 minutes).

    • Stage 1 (June 5-12)
      • Group A: Beach Island Loop – 45 minutes
      • Group B: Beach Island Loop – 30 minutes
    • Stage 2 (June 12-19)
      • Group A: Island Hopper – 45 minutes
      • Group B: Island Hopper – 30 minutes
    • Stage 3 (June 19-26)
      • Group A: Volcano Climb – 1 lap (22.8km//14.2mi, 192m//630’)
      • Group B: Volcano Flat – 1 lap (12.3km//7.6mi, 46m//151’)
    • Stage 4 (June 26-July 3)
      • Group A: Turf n Surf – 1 lap (24.6km//11.1mi, 195m//422’)
      • Group B: Island Outskirts – 1 lap (11.3km//7mi, 90m//295’)

They’re not races, but will they still be tracked in Zwift Power like the other Tours?

They’ll be on ZwiftPower like other group rides… but I don’t think you’ll have a time-based GC for each month or anything like that.

yes but the workout needs to come from a differrent app and the trainer needs to be set as power source only in zwift.. not controllable. There are a couple ways to do this but suppose you have a training peaks workout loaded on your garmin head unit, and you set up your garmin to control the trainer, then you launch zwift but set the trainer as power source.. that should work. i’ve done it before. You might have to experiement with BT and ANT connections etc.. or if you have a power meter on your bike, then set zwift… Read more »

Are clubs able to schedule these as events? If so how?

No… that’s not how clubs work. Although I suppose you could invite your club members to participate in certain events. But that would just be handled through your messaging…

Clubs can create their own events, if that’s what you’re looking to do…

Zwift offers many monthly challenges and racing series to complete. Most unlock badges but some events will unlock kits.

Stage 2: Group B same time as Group A. It should be 30 mins instead of 45 mins according to the Zwift page linked.

Is it a ride where everyone stays together or Like a race but without a Ranking?

The latter. These are just group rides.

I really like, love! The concept

but the longer rides are still short.
I liked the tours because you had 1 hour to 1.30 hour rides. And this was a great workout when you found your group.

I can understand 45 minutes for a race if you’re considering a warmup. But 45 mins for a group ride, for a lot of people this is to short to count as a training

For some reason they are classed as “races” in the companion app. Once I cleared the filters, they showed up

Completed Stage 3 last Tuesday morning, but had a bug when leaving. Now I have two Watopia Races (27.1km in 52’44”) on that day, but no Stage 3 on my profile. Any chance to have it corrected or redo that Stage?
