“Shorelines and Summits” Route Details (Watopia)

Animated Route Map

This is one of the more difficult routes released with Zwift’s October 2023 coastal road expansion… a much spicier version of the Sugar Cookie. “Shorelines and Summits” begins near the Jungle start pens, then takes you on a loop along the coastline and up the Epic KOM, including the Radio Tower climb!

Route Description

Begin near the Jungle start pens and descend through the Mayan Jungle before turning left to hit the new southern coastline road.

Enjoy the new scenery, hit all four sprints, then climb out through Saddle Springs and make your way across to the foot of the Epic KOM. It’s time to climb!

After finishing the Epic KOM you’ll turn left to the “bonus” Radio Tower climb… the steepest slopes in Watopia. Descend from the top once you’re finished, and keep descending the backside of the Epic KOM before heading back to where you started.

That’s one lap… whew. Ready for another? Nah. It’s time for cake!

Seems like a couple bike swaps are in order. Recommended switch spots?

I would’ve preferred it if Zwift made a new Epic KOM route that *didn’t* include the radio tower.

Or maybe one that climbed the backside of the KOM 😅

The new lighthouse on that route looks a bit like Cap de Formentor, except it’s at the bottom of the KOM.

That tower is my least favourite feature of Zwift.

I use the Pinarello F12 and the DT Swiss 1400 wheels.

I’d go with Scott Addict with Zip 858.

I’d say allrounder combo, like the Canyon Aeroad or Scott RC with Enve 7.8 or DT Swiss 62 wheels

Within 90 minutes for a average rider? I’m riding at 3+ wkg, took 4 sprint jerseys, at 25 km now and 42 minutes… with 620 meters elevation to go!!!

It took me 1hr 37m @John,3 wkg avg including Epic Qom Jersey and 4 sprint jerseys. So <90 minutes or less for most riders seems to be wrong.

Yes, I weigh 68 kilograms and rode an average wattage of 160 watts and it took me 1 hour and 50 minutes to finish.

I have tried this route for 4 times now and every time the session jams around 38,4Km 665Hm and 1hr 25Min while climbing the radio tower. The screen turns black and sometimes it returns just saying Zwift doesn’t respond. I have done longer rides (up to almost 3hrs) and more Hm and races in between with no problems. Anyone encountered the same problem?

Hello, I rode this route this morning. I’m 95 kg and averaged 193 watts, it took me 01:57:17 to complete. I did manage a PB on the climb well worth the 10 xp points at the banner, the radio tower is sadistic.

Thanks for the guides etc Eric, really useful.

I did a 130:23 and that was with getting all 4 jerseys and 3rd in the KOM. Yeah the time is off a lot. It was a rough ride.

Very odd place to start and end this route. Do we really need to cover the gravel twice?

Bike swaps make sense at the start of the epic kom and top of the radio tower, unless you’re racing, different story.
