“Summit Seeker” Challenge Launched

Yesterday, Zwift posted the new “Summit Seeker” mini-challenge. The concept is simple, but finishing won’t be easy! To unlock the XP bonuses, riders must conquer Watopia’s three most iconic longer climbs: the Volcano KOM, Epic KOM, and Alpe du Zwift.

Summit Seeker Routes

The Challenge consists of three routes you must complete:

Rewards increase with each route you complete: 250 XP, 750 XP, then 1000 XP.

Joining the Challenge

To sign up and progress through the Challenge, just click its card on the home screen, pick one of the three routes, and go up up up!

Deadline

This challenge is live from August 12-September 15.

Challenge Rewards

Your reward for completing all three routes is a total of 2000 bonus XP, so you can level up faster.

Two Birds, One Stone

Got a workout scheduled for the day, but want to get some extra XP and knock out this challenge? You can do both. Just pick your route from the Challenge’s home screen, then choose your desired workout once you’re in Watopia. Ride your workout, make sure you also complete the route, and you’ll get credit for the workout and the route!

Here’s a video to show you how it works:

Same boat for about the last year and a half, but I’m still into this one.

No more levels! The majority of zwifters are well below 100 and will take 3 to 5 years to get there.

These guys spend all day yo-yoing up Climb Portal to hit level 100… and then cry because the progress bar stopped moving. LOL

Sour grapes much? Many riders have reached level 100 noob. Ride 400k a week & you’ll see your XP getting bumped.

As a matter of fact, I don’t even do the weekly or monthly challenges that give you extra XP.. so stop trolling, clown.

Not cool. Condescension and insults. Can do without this, frankly.

I asked for extra levels due to hitting the 100 level milestone & got berated & called a cheat.

So for standing up for my own-self that’s not cool but being judgemental with such replies I got.. that’s cool.

Whatever 🤷🏻‍♂️

Next Season On Zwift maybe? 3-4 weeks to wait for that announcement. Sure would be nice. Just did my first ride at level 100 today and while I was worried about other things (bike upgrade time, and – gasp – fitness) it was missing something. Fingers crossed for a prestige system or such. Though a “keep people engaged” feature like that seems more likely for a spring announcement.

what does this have to do with this challenge?

Eric, this challenge give you around 3,000 XP in total to continue progress in levels.

For us who have already reached level 100 & have done all 3 routes already (meaning we have the route badges) the challenge is useless as it gives us nothing new or to unlock.

Hope that the above clarified your query.

I agree! I’ve been at level 100 forever. I’m over 80K kilometers and 650K meters climbing and always looking for more. I’ve been around since the beginning and have loved every minute. Keep the good stuff coming!

Can we ride these in a workout as well like the other challenges?

That’s a good idea, even the short one is almost an hour, not fancy redoing it.

I often pick the workout and then match to the route which will also work. However zwift doesn’t like it and it crashes 3 or 4 times before I get the ride started (usually route of the week)

I need sweat drops waaaay more than XP, would love more opportunities for this outside pacerbots.

Good news: you earn more drops when you’re going up.

@Eric Schlange article idea: drop farming, for those of us who aren’t chasing XP anymore

As noted, riding up hill is a fast sweat point gain, and then dole out more RideOns, get more back, get more sweat points.

Do you also still get the AdZ spinner XP (assuming you have already won all the items)?

Is it possible to complete each stage of this challenge while also doing a XERT workout?

I’m sure it is, it usually is with these sort of challenge.
But the first step will be to start a ride on any of the routes by going through the challenge screen. This step activates the challenge on your account.

Can you do these in any order or do you have to do like Volcano first?

Do I need to be Level 10 to attempt all 3?

Does it work the same for a meetup – select the route from the challenge then go to the meetup for the route? Just checking. P

Since it looks like these can be done in any order, which order would be the best to do them in?

I went with the order shown in the challenge, mainly due to the fact that I could use the second half of M&TM as an active recovery (my plan was to just coast down the Alpe at no-power).

I can’t find where to join this challenge. My home screen still has that banner letting me know I can customize my HUD. Is there a workaround?

Is there a way to see time splits on Alpe du Zwift for each of the 21 segments after the ride is completed? I’m within 1:40 of earning the under one hour badge and would need to beat each segment by 5 seconds.

Does this come with a badge? Asking for a friend😁

It woud be good if Zwift awarded you a Mission Badge for completing this, so you have something to show for it
As I’m at Level 100 XP isn’t a big motivator

It says it ends today Sept 15 but I don’t see it on my Zwift anymore. I was planning on completing the last of the three routes today. Where did it go? Can I still get the 1000 XP if I do the last route?
