“The Magnificent 8” route was rolled out with Zwift’s October 29, 2019 update, and was used as the route for the Halloween dinosaur costume scavenger hunt. It was released as an event-only route, and became an open route in January 2025. It’s a mostly-flat route, with the only significant climb being the reverse Hilly KOM.

This route is quite flat, with the only climb being the reverse Hilly KOM. This hill is short and shallow enough that a lightweight climbing setup does not give you even a 1-second advantage. So aero rules the day. Get the most slippery frame and wheels you can afford!

The route begins in downtown Watopia, riding through the start/finish banner in the reverse direction. We ride around the volcano, across the land bridge, past the noisy waterfall and over the reverse Hilly KOM. (This is the only significant climb of the entire route).
Next, we hang a right onto Ocean Boulevard, then a left to Fuego Flats for a spin through the desert.
This brings us all the way around to a right turn onto the Ocean Boulevard/Epic KOM spur, where we make our way back to downtown Watopia for the finish.
