The Zwift Classics race series debuted in July 2019 as a simple set of monthly invitational races for 5-member men and women’s teams. Zwift has just announced the Classics series for 2020, and it has expanded in scope to include the entire racing community in the fun.
These races are sure to be hugely popular – here are the details!
Race Format
Similar to what we’ve seen with Tour de Zwift and Tour of Watopia, a Pro/Am Invitational race will be held (and live-streamed) the day before each race opens up to the full Zwift community. Watch how the world’s top Zwift racers take on the course, then tackle it yourself!
Each Pro-Am race will feature different race challenges ranging from scratch race format to team points races to individual points races. Teams lined up to race include SEG Racing, Ribble-Weldtite, Hagens Berman Axeon, NTT, Canyon-dhb, Canyon/SRAM and TWENTY20.

Do we unlock new jerseys for the events
Nope. Just a good hard race!
How is this any different than the tour de zwift? Zwift needs to think outside the box a little on what they are offering, it feels like the same thing over and over. I love the Houte Route thing happening – a 3 stage challenge across three straight days. Maybe do an Omnium. Try something different.
I just want longer stages like the Fonda’s used to be. 50+ miles. I feel like every year the event distances get shorter.
Will there be leaderboards on ZwiftPower for this event? Or just single races?
There is a league on zwiftpower. I agree events short in isolation but the GC league looks like a good addition. Check out the league section on zwiftpower
Hi series looks great. Interesting that zwiftpower have a GC league set up which will make the amateur racing very interesting. Not sure what’s right / wrong but the courses and distances listed in the article are different to zwift announcement. Eg Bologna is 2 laps vs 1 on article and crit race 10 laps but 8 in article?
What Zwift announcement, Matt? We pulled our info from this events page: https://zwift.com/events/series/zwift-classics/
Any make-up days?
No.
Does anyone know if the upcoming Bologna event Is run as a TT or group race?
Group race. TT bikes not allowed!
Hey Eric, Have you seen the Richmond event postings? Looks like a group ride format to me with Cats used for 1, 2, or 3 laps. Is this an error by Zwift? Thought this was a race series with rankings for all racers INCLUDING D and Women’s only events.
This is a curveball for me, as I’ve been running an unofficial point series with 80+ local club riders off of these races. This group/lap style format is not what I was expecting…
Thanks!
Yes, it appears they have changed the format for the final 3 classics and state “Choose a group based on the distance you want to ride. All groups will be the same open pace, only the distance is different.”
Not sure how much this will affect the race experience with an open field.
Interesting to note that event numbers (per zwiftpower events page) are very low versus what they’ve been for the first 3 classics races.
I noticed this as well. I don’t mind group rides at all, but I like the races a lot. It’s a shame that Zwift has changed the rules for these last three events in this series.
I’m really gutted to read this as I didn’t notice the change, and spent two days checking Zwiftpower results after the Watopia Cup to see where I “really” finished. I bet they changed it because Zwiftpower doesn’t have the capacity to go through all the results.
I was looking forward to doing a C race in Crit City later today but this news has really put me off.
Hi i did the TT bologna in W/dgrade when fin got WKG?? am i DQ’d??
How do you find the results of the Pro am women’s series?
They get posted to Zwift’s blog: https://community.zwift.com/news/
Hiya
How does the leagues work on zwiftpower… i am pretty new to all this and i wonder why it says that i am leading in c even though i havent raced the richmond race in C?? I hope somebody can help!
What about make up days? Will it be possible?
There are no make up days… this isn’t a series where you unlock any special achievement, so there’s really nothing to make up!
