“Waisted 8” Route Details (Watopia)

Animated Route Map
Animated map provided by ZwiftHacks

This route gets its name from Watopia’s Waistband since both routes cover the “waistband” encircling Watopia’s Volcano, Downtown, and Fuego Flats areas.

Waisted 8 traverses this loop in the opposite direction, though, and includes a loop of Jarvis Island for good measure.

Route Description

Cycling course profile showing three segments: Jarvis Sprint Rev. at 0.2km, Jarvis KOM Rev. at 1.3km with 3.1% incline, and Fuego Flats Rev. at 7.1km, over a 30km route with elevation changes.

Route profile by ZwiftHub – the place to plan and track your route achievements!

We begin in downtown Watopia, traveling around the northern half of the Volcano and onto a clockwise circuit of Jarvis Island.

The Jarvis circuit is one loop in this figure 8 route, but you’ve got a much bigger loop left to complete!

Exit Jarvis, turning right to travel down the land bridge and up the Dirty Sorpressa. You’ll make your way through the marina and into the Ocean Boulevard tunnels before climbing up through the redwoods and descending to Saddle Springs for a fast, flat ride through the Fuego Flats desert.

As you begin to descend from the desert toward downtown Watopia, you’re almost to the finish line. Hang a right on Ocean Boulevard, another right toward the start pens, and you’ve got just a few hundred meters to the finish line. Go go go!

Just completed the TdW B ride on Waisted 8 but no segment shows in Strava, has a segment been created yet?

Should it appear when the segment is created?

What is the easiest way to re-upload it? Thanks for the advice 🙂

The easiset would be to crop your activity by 1 sec or so in Strava. Then it will re-match the segments.

These new times estimates by w/kg are an awesome addition. We can finally put to rest the BS swift estimates!

This would be a good route to ride with a robo pacer.

I rode this again today and kept going to the sprint banner on Jarvis island and Strava now shows that the segment does indeed end there, not the usual place and where the event finishes.

Ah, when I looked again, I see that the finish banner is actually my finish banner and the last part of the route is in grey on Strava. Of course you are correct, as I should have realised.

Is Strava allowing you to make segments shorter than the 500m (or whatever) minimum length now?! I’m see the Jarvis Sprint and now the Shisa Sprint as well.

Does that include this missing two on the Alpe?
