Zwift began featuring a Climb of the Week in August 2025, giving Zwifters the chance to earn an XP bonus by completing a particular portal climb. Here’s the schedule of featured climbs, including the bonus XP you’ll earn for completing each. (Click climb name for details.)
Featured climbs switch at 9am Pacific each Monday (noon Eastern, 4pm UTC).
To access the Climb of the Week, begin by clicking the challenge card on the homescreen. Click the climb, confirm your difficulty percentage (you can ride the climb at 50%, 75%, 100%, or 125%), then click Start Ride.

Finish the full climb and you’ll get a completion banner across your screen:

Hi
And we will only get XP for completing first time right.
Not for completing both 50,75,100 and 125%
Correct. You’ll earn the XP bonus the first time you complete the week’s featured climb, at any difficulty percentage.
Perfect for planning future rides along side the same for workout of week. I see they harder ones are not all same week either which is nice.
With this new climb of week will there be a climb completion list created like there is for the many routes? Be nice to tick them off as i do them.
No there is not. Track it manually yourself, but also use https://zwiftinsider.com/climb-portal-leaderboards/ https://veloviewer.com/segmentHunterSeries/1000007
And will there be a route of the week list also.?
Already is! https://zwiftinsider.com/rotw/
Apparently, Zwift must be doing just fine—so fine, in fact, that every update now includes some kind of retention gimmick. Because nothing says “we value our long-time users” like infantile pocket squirrels, uninspired streak counters, and the same climbs repackaged as weekly highlights. Of course, those of us who have been around a while know what actually keeps people riding: meaningful updates. You know, things like new routes that are not just copy-paste jobs, pack dynamics that do not feel like bumper cars, race formats that go beyond “who can click fastest,” and maybe even a pen system that does not make ZRS look like a beta test from 1995. But sure—keep the squirrels coming. That’ll fix everything.
you may be the only one that feels this way… congrats
Hi Eric,
will these climbs of the week all be hosted in France? Or will Watopia and France mix?
Thank you!
As far as I can tell, they’re always in France. Not sure why, or if that will continue!
Although, technically speaking, Cheddar Gorge is actually in England!
Does that mean that the climb of the month will be moved to another world?
Nope. Multiple climbs can be hosted in the same world… it’s just a parameter Zwift passes when you start your session.
Hello Eric, The ZwiftInsider website is such a great resource! Thank you! Will you be adding the climb of the week and workout of the week page links to the reference drop down menu?
I’m actually going to make a single page that combines Route, Climb, and Workout of the Week… then link to that one page. Probably Friday!
Hi Eric,
just an idea: Would it be possible to provide iCal links to the different schedules so I could subscribe them in my calendar apps?
Of course you could add a link to more details so traffic will land on your pages.
Regards
Hi, Eric.
Does Zwift give you any badges or extra XP when you finish a climb for the first time?
Nope. Unless it’s the Climb of the Week!
Note that completing Cheddar Gorge from the regular schedule (Sep 1-3) did NOT award the bonus as technically Cheddar Gorge in the France world isn’t the same as the one in Watopia apparently. Too bad Zwift chose to have 2 of the 5 climbs of the week also appear on the monthly climb. This could be a good step towards having climbs be available more regularly now we have like 47 climbs to rotate.
Hi Eric,
Just completed Cheddar Gorge and got my 250 xp for the first ride, so climb of the week worked just fine for me. I did 2 repeats after that.
Haven’t used climb portal much recently but noticed that for my 3 rides (meaning that I rolled the dice 30 times) I received pretty much exactly 50% feathers and 50% XP 10+, not a single XP 250+.
If I remember correctly, shouldn’t this be like 20/70/10? So was that just a statistical outlier, or is this because I was still on the climb of the week (which may be somehow different from the ordinary climb portal) or did they change the algorithm for the climb portal?
Thx!

Thx Eric, good to know. Looks like I missed that update.
I had my eye on Cheddar Gorge for a while now. I really wanted to get below 10 minutes on this climb. So I made a little Saturday video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEKsMeEUVfw&feature=youtu.be
Are you still able to collect the 750XP if you start Gotthard Pass very late on the 21st (like 11pm), causing you to finish the next day (like 1230am), after Zwift has flipped to the next ride of the week?
@Eric Schlange
Eric – thank you for all of your hard work! Zwift is incredible! I was curious if in the companion app, Zwift would consider adding “climb of the week” to the challenges along with “route of the week”, “route chaser” and “quick fire”? Seems logical for easy access and planning. Thanks again!
Just logged in to ride Hardknott Pass but the climb of the week is Col du Rosier. Why does Zwift deviate from/ change the published schedule.
