“Old Willunga Hill” Details (Zwift Climb Portal)

Key Details

Old Willunga Hill is South Australia’s most famous climb, even though it’s not the area’s most challenging climb. Why is it so famous? Because the Tour Down Under often features a stage ending atop this climb, and Richie Porte charging up the hill with the crowd roaring in delight is an unforgettable part of the Tour Down Under experience for many.

Porte (now retired) won 7 stages that finished atop Old Willunga Hill. He’s also, unsurprisingly, the Strava KOM holder.

On the women’s side, Sarah Gigante (a keen Zwifter and IRL pro) holds the QOM on the climb.

Here’s the IRL segment, which is around 400 meters shorter than Zwift’s:

4 left to do. Sat waiting until they come on the schedule. Wish they’d hurry up.

What fun would that be? Then you’d be done and it’s be boring you’d have nothing to do.

Also, they are going to keep adding climbs. So you’re never going to be done.

The climb portal graphics don’t really do it justice do they! I used to ride 90 minutes to get to this hill.

Ace scenery. We’re now doing the gravel tracks around here too. So lucky in SA.

Don’t forget current QOM holder Sarah Gigante who also won Sunday’s TDU Women’s event, mountain-top stage up Willunga with an aggressive attack from the bottom and rode the remaining field off her wheel…!

I am beginning to really enjoy the Climb Portal. Nice training climbs with no visual “distractions” (other than the psychedelic “objects”).😂

Rode this today, and it looks like as well as the OWH segment, Zwift gave me a time for Mur de Bretagne as well?

Similar path. Both geotagged to the start of the climb portal. As far as Strava is concerned they start in the same place.
