Party On! All About Confetti Socks in Zwift

The first cool (hot?) socks in Zwift were the Fire Socks, released as a level 50 bonus unlock back in 2022.

But there’s a new sock on the block giving the fire socks some competition both in exclusivity and fun. Confetti Socks were released in April 2024 as a bonus unlock for level 100 Zwifters (who also unlock the level 100 kit).

How do they work? Here’s me dropping a Ride On bomb while wearing confetti socks:

Riders who wear confetti socks have a special ability: their Ride Ons are confetti-filled and include a +2XP bonus! That is, when you receive a Ride On from a confetti sock wearer, you’ll see confetti on your screen, plus that +2XP bonus.

(You’ll also unlock the “Party On!” badge the first time you get a Ride On from a level 100 Zwifter. This badge is worth an additional 50XP.)

The confetti is only visible to the rider who gives the Ride On and rider who receives it.

Like the fire socks, confetti socks can be put on or taken off in your garage:

I already enjoyed dropping Ride On bombs when riding in groups. Then, using Zwift Ride with Play Controllers made it even easier. And now with the confetti bursts and XP bonuses, I enjoy it even more! It’s like I’m a walking (riding) confetti cannon…

One Confetti Caveat

If you like to use the Companion app to give Ride Ons to friends who are riding while you’re sitting on the couch or hanging in the coffee shop, you should know that those Ride Ons aren’t confetti Ride Ons.

Basically, you have to be active in game in order for your Ride Ons to include the confetti burst.

I wrote a Tasker script (Android app) to automatically give ride-on bombs every 10 seconds as long as I have the companion app open. I just leveled up to 100 earlier this week, so I’ve been having constant parties every ride. I like to think that I’m helping people get their own confetti socks.

White socks for the win. Maybe 2025 can bring some lightening socks which are white 🙌🏼. I’m a long shot off level 100 anyway!

Could you please share it? Does it require the phone to be rooted?

No root required, but Android only.

Here is the XML file for importing into Tasker.

Here are some quick instructions for what to do with that file.

This requires Tasker ($3.49), which is a paid app, along with the AutoInput plugin, which can be purchased via an IAP to the AutoApps app plugin ($1.99), which is also a paid app.

Would love to have the confetti socks in white too.. Using Zwift play controller + companion App allows you to even give 10 bombs more les continuously..

We need an ability to change the colour for these socks to top it off!

I know it’s a “first world problems” type of complaint, but I wish they would have made it confetti gloves instead. Fire socks and confetti socks are the only two items that have a real purpose so it’s kinda unfortunate that you have to choose between them.

Also wish the socks would have a confetti design instead or alternatively a color slider. Black socks look stupid with white shoes and with most light colored bibs. Went back to the Norseman bibs to match the socks.

Maybe create a way to wear one type of sock on each foot.

Exactly. Fire socks rock. I did an event in 100 kit and gave confetti, and was very quickly bored. Maybe a constant stream of confetti would be better. If I could gift them to someone, I would give it away.

The true purpose of these is to blow confetti and pop up a banner for people during the finishing sprint of a race 👍

Eric – will the confetti ride on also go to Zwifters not on the same route? Such as when I go to Home in the Companion App while riding, and give ride ons to the people I follow other are riding? (I will hit level 100 soon!)

Thanks,

Carole
