Zwift Camp: Breakthrough Announced, Begins April 6

This season, Zwift is leaning heavily into the Zwift Camp concept, launching a three-camp series that kicked off with Zwift Camp: Baseline in September.

Next week (Monday, April 6), the third and final Camp of the season begins. Named “Zwift Camp: Breakthrough”, it’s a 5-stage workout series all about helping you transition to outdoor riding. Dive into all the details below!

Breakthrough Basics

After Zwift Camp: Baseline showed us our power bests across various intervals, and Zwift Camp: Build pushed us to get stronger, Zwift Camp: Breakthrough is here to help us transition confidently into outdoor riding.

The Camp consists of five different workouts, spread across five weeks. You can finish each workout once and complete the Camp, but you can also do a workout multiple times if you’re looking for additional training.

Instead of targeting power intervals like the first two camps, ZC: Breakthrough workouts target your technique while helping you build enduring fitness:

  • Stage 1: Foundations
  • Stage 2: Body Control
  • Stage 3: Cadence Mastery
  • Stage 4: Standing Skills
  • Stage 5: Flow Session

Workouts + Schedule

Stages can be completed as on-demand (solo) efforts whenever you’d like, or you can join a scheduled group event.

  • Stage 1: April 6-12
    • Foundations: Good posture and a cleaner pedal stroke save you tons of energy. It’s how you make outdoor rides feel effortless. The workout reinforces “calm control” while you build sustainable fitness with mostly steady work, then finishes by sharpening leg speed so you can stay smooth across different cadences.
    • Unlock: Oakley Velo Kato Glasses
    • Route: Triple Twist
  • Stage 2: April 13-19
    • Body Control: Riding outdoors is all about tiny adjustments. When your position changes, staying steady is what keeps rides calm and efficient. The workout guides riders through hand-position changes, one-leg focus drills, and calm upper-body control so adjustments feel natural, not messy, and you stay efficient and confident outside.
    • Unlock: Princeton Wake 6560 Wheels Lava Red Colorway
    • Route: Island Hopper
  • Stage 3: April 20-26
    • Cadence Mastery: We’re teaching cadence adaptability: staying smooth and in control even when rhythm changes (wind, terrain, surges, group pace). The workout emphasizes switching between higher and lower stroke speeds while keeping power steady, so outdoor riding feels composed instead of chaotic.
    • Unlock: Pinarello Dogma F 2024 Starry Red Colorway
    • Route: Green to Screen
  • Stage 4: April 27-May 3
    • Standing Skills: The goal is to make standing feel just as smooth and confident as sitting. The workout focuses on clean seated-to-standing transitions while maintaining control, building confidence for rollers, small rises, quick changes in pace, and “stretch-and-reset” moments outdoors.
  • Stage 5: May 4-10
    • Flow Session: The “put it all together” capstone. This is practice for the real world—you’re training control, not just fitness. Posture, pedal stroke, cadence control, and standing transitions blended into one steady, outdoor-ready rhythm. The script positions it as the final integration—helping riders feel calm, smooth, and capable when roads, terrain, and pace change.
    • Unlock: Zwift Camp: Breakthrough Kit
    • Route: Big Flat 8
  • Make-Up Events: May 11-17

Sign up at zwift.com/zwift-camp > (events coming soon)

Each stage is a week long, with events beginning at 9am PST on Monday and scheduled hourly on the hour until 8am PST the following Monday.

Progressive Unlocks

Four unlocks are available as you work your way through Zwift Camp: Breakthrough:

  • Complete Stage 1: Oakley Velo Kato glasses
  • Complete Stage 2: Princetown Carbonworks Wake 6560 Lava wheels
  • Complete Stage 3: Starry Red Colorway for Pinarello Dogma F 2024 frame*
  • Complete all 5 Stages: Zwift Camp: Breakthrough cycling kit

*The stage 3 unlock is for the frame colorway only. You must still purchase the base Pinarello Dogma F 2024 frame in the DropShop.

Are the first 3 unlocks stage based, or dependant on completion of the previous stages too? I might just want the colour way options 😏

“Pinarello Dogma F 2024 Starry Red Colorway”

Sigh. There goes my exclusivity from 2024

so if I’m understanding, the lava red colorway for the super fire PCW 6560’s will turn the white stripe to a lava red stripe? Is it only lava red? or is a colorway slider providing more colors?

Will definitely have to unlock that.

Can you buy the frame and wheels after unlocking the color ways and still get the color way to show up in your garage? I won’t be level 40 and able to buy the Dogma yet

The color slider is actually active on most bikes.

The wheels will change colour with the slider if the bike supports it. And matches the accent colour on the Zwift Steel frame, not the main frame colour, and looks quite cool 😎

If I just join the event without following the workout as prescribed—for example, if I complete the entire workout only in Zone 1 or Zone 2—will I still be able to complete the stage? Generic training camps simply don’t suit me at all. but I want unlock Lava Red Colorway for Princetown Carbonworks Wake 6560 wheels

I’d also like to know, has anyone tried this?

I have done this for every single workout series that unlocks anything. I just start the workout and ride as I normally would. I ignore all the prompts and fail most of the sections, but it has always counted as finishing the workout.

Thanks for this info! I despise structured workouts, and I usually ignore these types of events but I really want that red colorway 😍

or start the ride and just tab thru all the workout intervals. takes about 10 mins to get all the goodies

Can you win the wheels themselves, or the colour scheme only?

Jeff

Sorry, but I am a bit confused by the colorways concept. Using my current garage as an example. I do not own the Princetown Carbonworks Wake 6560 wheels, but having completed stage 2 and then choose to purchase a pair of white 6560 wheels another set of 6560 wheels, this time in red, will appear in my garage? I already own the Pinarello Dogma F 2024 frame at upgrade level 5. When I complete stage 3 will a red Pinarello Dogma F 2024 magically appear in my garage at level 1? Or have I just unlocked the option, should I wish to spend my hard earned drops, to buy another Dogma F at level 1 if I want it in red?

Are the multiple different Canyon Aeroad’s still a thing (where the paint job was a completely different bike that you had to upgrade separately), or did they realize that was a silly idea and do away with that?

They show as a new set of wheels in my garage.
And they have different stars also.

The white have 4 stars for both aero and weight.
The red ones have 3 stars for weight …

Will they have different speeds ? You tested that @Eric Schlange ?

But we get to keep two different wheels or will they also change it back to just an extra color to the white wheels ?

Just to confirm, do you get the red wheels without having to purchase them? Or just two versions of the wheel when you purchase?

You don’t have to buy the red ones. Complete two workouts and they are yours for “free”

Looks like the Wake 6560 Lava are 3 stars for weight and are the 5th iteration, the Wake 6560 White are 4 stars and are the 6th iteration of the wake series.

I’m confused……

“Zwift tells me it’s a bug in how they were set up, and can’t be changed at this point.”

“I bet they’re set up as two different wheelsets, and somebody didn’t update the Lava wheelset to be in line with the performance of the white one. But that gets fixed soon though.”

Will the Lava/Red wheelset be updated to match the performance of the White wheelset?

I’m more confused…. 🙂

Above indicates that Stage 2 must be completed to unlock the wheels. On Zwift it says “COMPLETE 2 ACTIVITIES”.

I just completed my first “activity” which was Stage 2 and only stage 2, and I received the Oakley Velo Kato Glasses.
I guess I’ll try Stage 1 (second activity) tomorrow to see if I get the wheels.

Second activity (Stage 2 and 4) and got the wheel on the second activity.
ALSO the color slider is active on many different frames, not just red!

How? If I select the workout from the card, it doesn’t let me choose a route, looks preselected. If I go on a free ride, I don’t find the Breakthrough workouts in the catalog. Thanks 🙂

It seems we have to complete two stages, to unlock the red stripe for the 6560 fire hoops. It’s not “complete stage 2 to unlcok said red stripe.” It’s: complete two stages to unlock said red stripe

Correct. After doing the first workout I got the glasses, but then I did the 3d workout, expecting to unlock the Dogma F bike colors, but it unlocked the red wheels.

Very annoying you have to take these workouts at a fixed route. I’d much rather combine them with RotW/CotW or a route I don’t have a badge for yet.

So it sounds like they’re separate wheelsets and not just colorways, but do you still get the lava Princetown 6560’s if you aren’t high enough level to purchase the original version?

Maybe worth amending the article? I bought the 6560 white thinking I needed them for the red. I would not have spent the drops if I knew the wheels were the reward rather than the colorway. Thanks!

I signed up for the Stage 1 “Foundations”workout last night. It was a small group with ~2 dozen participants. When the ride started, several (maybe 20%?) of the participants (myself included) were not put into erg mode – we were just freeriding with the group – you could tell by the heads up display graphics who was and wasn’t in workout mode. There was some chat in the group to confirm this. I had to maintain Zone 4 to stay attached. Another update bug?

That was my experience too. Saw a timer, but no workout and power ups worked. The banding worked and I got credit at the end.

I also had this issue today. And several others in the group as well (maybe 20% as you say)
No ERG mode, no prompts no instructions nothing. It was a normal rubber banded ride in simulation mode. I didn’t need to be in zone 4 to keep with the group. I was mostly in zone3. I got the badge for completing the workout after 45 min without ever seeing the workout. Very strange experience.

It would be helpful to add an * (as with the Pinarello Dogma) that the Princeton Wave 6560 wheels need to be purchased & that Stage 2 only unlocks the Wave 6560 colorway. Under workouts & schedule, Stage 2 unlock says the unlock is Wave 6560 Colorway but under Progressive Unlocks, Stage 2 says the unlock is the Wave 6560 wheels.

You really unlock the wheels after completing two workouts, so there’s no need to add the asterisk.

Did someone realise that the Dogma F2024 is now earlier available in Drop Shop?
Before the latest update it was available at Level 40.
I am Level 31 and could already buy it now.
How come? Isnt it that good anymore?

I also notice that the “red” wheels change color when they are used with a compatible bike. For example, they appear blue with the Canyon Aeroad 2021. Is this a bug or is it intentional?

The Princeton Carbonworks Wake 6560 are level locked at lv32, 685.000 drops.
They are the top allround racing wheelset in game!
And now anybody, even a level 1 beginner, can do two 45 min workouts and get them for free??
That’s just too easy!
Remember the amount of hours you put in to get those Lightweight Meilensteins, Zipp454’s or Enve 4.5’s? Maybe you worked your butt off just to get the Zipp808’s.
These top them all – and anybody can get them for free….

1st one was ok. Not terribly difficult, but not a waste of time imo vs say a zone 2 ride or some sweet spot. 2nd one was pretty useless. Lots of “now ride for a bit with your hands in this position” stuff. I would skip it unless you want the red colorway wheels, which haven’t shown up for me yet for some reason.

We’ll see what the rest bring, but I think these would benefit novice riders more than experienced riders and are focused more on technique than fitness training.

I’ve done 3 of the workouts but probably won’t do any more. I’m not really training for anything, stage four has no unlocks, and I don’t need another kit that I won’t ever wear.

So many bugs in Zwift at the moment – are they using too much AI to code without proper AI governance? Just did the group stage 2 and it just ran as a normal rubber band group ride with no workout. What a waste of time

Whenever I selected group workout, it loaded as a free ride. Each time, after a few minutes, I have left and selected the solo workout instead. At least with that, I can select a course and not be tied to the preset course.

Zwift’s breakout stage tracker shows I only completed stage 2, so that’s likely why I don’t have the wheels. I did stage 1 and it shows in my activity history, and I have the glasses unlock, so not sure why it didn’t register. Zwift being Zwift I suppose.

Umm, before the last Stage 3 event, I had already selected the Zwift Concept Z1 (Tron) bike. As expected, the stage “force” used the Pinarello Dogma F 2024. No problems there but at the end of the ride I noticed in the new summary screen that my Zwift Concept Z1 bike had the upgrade km increased to the same amount of the event. Nice bonus I guess.

Anyone else seen this occur for any other frames and upgrade type (time, elevation)?

Also, I did notice that a couple of the frames did have a different colourway and one of the riders stated that they already had that colourway enabled. Looked good as they really stood out in the blob.

Something strange and kind of frustrating happened while I was trying to unlock the Princeton wheel set. I completed one of the workouts in a group which worked fine and I unlocked the glasses as you would expect. Then I went to do another workout alone to unlock the wheel set, but that somehow doesn’t show up in the event screen. I completed it from start to finish but it is not counted towards my progress. Has anybody else had that happen to them?
