Zwift’s Route and Climb of the Week challenges are designed to get you riding routes you may not otherwise ride, in return for an XP bonus you wouldn’t otherwise earn! Each week, a new route and climb are selected, with XP bonuses attached to each.
Weekly challenges switch at 9am Pacific each Monday (noon Eastern, 4pm UTC).
Riding the featured route or climb in any fashion will earn you completion credit and the XP bonus. To easily access the ride of the week selections and see your progress, click the Ride of the Week challenge card on the homescreen:

Thank you for this, previously I was checking a couple of different links but now its all on one page!
Yes nice!
Even nicer would be if it included the elapse time for the workout, and and input-your-FTP field to provide an estimated elapse time for the route or climb so as to make it easy to see which double up nicely. 😉
[ Just tempting the ever busy Eric. He already makes our lives oh so much easier and productive! ]
As stated in the other comment: super helpful to have this all in one place with the calendar view – nicely done. Eric, would you consider placing a link to this page also under the main “reference” menu up top? There’s links to Course, Robopacer, Climb Portal as well as Route of the Week there already – so I feel this one deserves to be there as well, otherwise in a few weeks time we’ll all be sifting through the site trying to find this page again 😉 Cheers!
Done!
Much appreciated!
All on same page. Brilliant. Thanks a lot for all your efforts.
This is outstanding! For those of us who have to plan our Zwift activities, we can plan all the way to the end of the year! And XP chasers, like me, are dug right into this!! Nice one Zwift!!
As a previous comment stated, putting this as a permanent link under References would be great so it doesn’t get lost in the shuffle.
Done!
Can you complete the climb of the week at 50% or 75% and still get the bonus?
Yes.
Hi Eric, do you receive bonus every time? 200XP after completing 50%; 200XP after completing 75% and so on…? Thank you for your reply
Nope. You’ll get the bonus once, for completing the climb (at any % level). But just once!
Trop bien, merci Eric
Why didn’t the weekly workout and climb update this week with the weekly route?
Why? Again every single climb of the week overlaps with a climb already available in Watopia during that week. Except when you do it in Watopia it won’t count for CotW. They create this additional climb portal entry and then don’t use it to actually add different climbs on the schedule. Just plain bizarre.
Is this data available somewhere easily accessible? I’d like to make a script that pulls the route of the week, climb of the week and workout of the week.
For anyone interested why I needed this, I created a little zwift widget for the gnome desktop. https://github.com/netbrain/zwift/discussions/240
Thank you for posting this. My question is can I do climb of the week, once I’m on the map switch to my own custom workout? And get both xp bonus and xp workout?
Yup.
Oh. It seems Zwift has cancelled the weekly workouts?
Maybe because the new Zwift Camp Build is starting?
They cancelled them due to low engagement, and also took out the longer climb portals and routes of the week.
One of the difficulties I have with workouts is working out how many XP I can gain by doing the workout itself (in addition to the bonus). Maybe if the XP total were published as for routes…?
The XP gained for the workout depends on how closely you match the power targets, from what I understand. It may not be the same each time you do the workout.
I could be completely wrong, though.
Thanks for reply. I’m surprised by the low engagement. The Workout of the Week was always ranked number 1 among „Popular Workouts“ under whatsonswift. It was always nice to just do a random workout without having to activate a training plan.
Couldn’t agree more!
So disappointing!
That’s disappointing. I never did workouts until they became weekly challenges (with bonus XP). The bonus XP was great motivation. Without it, I’ll just go back to robopacers.
Bummer!
i was always doing the doubling up, mostly with the climb. Oh well, guess the zwift camp will tide me over some and then I’m back to the usual set of five or so workouts that I select purely based on how much time I have… yay for monotony!
I just came back to zwift after giving birth and am quite disappointed to hear this.
For the week of November 24-30, “Three Sisters” was listed, but it was changed to Tempus Fugit. Is this a mistake by Zwift Insider, or was it actually changed?
Actually changed.
I notice they’ve removed all the difficult routes that had a 1000xp reward; I guess they’re not very popular.
Workout of weeks were great for XP.
Was a shame they would not disclose up front how much XP. It’s just a few words in the description. I imagine that had more to do with low engagement than anything else.
Here do X for reward..
… how much is the reward?
Secret…
That’s annoying, I was going to do Workout of the Week with Big Apple Badge Hunt (if possible), but I was holding off until December, because Zwift added Levels 61-100 around December 5, 2023 so I was wondering if Zwift might drop new levels either December 2 or 9 this year, Eric eluded to new levels coming soon, just not in October???
Are the challenge cards (route of week and climb of week) missing for anyone else today?
Yep. Missing for me. I always did them on Monday. Don’t think I will head to portal without them.
Hi, can you ride the route of the week – through “meet up” and still complete the challenge? Or do have to go into the challenge itself?
You can do them as meetups.
Hi Eric, Is the weekly challenge not continuing into February or is it the schedule just not published yet?
Just not decided yet (by Zwift).
Question; since Crow Road is currently in the Watopia climb portal, could I ride from the end of Sand & Sequoias to the climb portal and up Crow Road and double up?
Answered it myself. Yes. You can double up by completing the route of the week and then riding over to the Climb Portal and ascending the climb of the week.
Just noticed that estimated times are in a different order for climbs and normal routes. I always need a second look to find my matching time.
Hmmm, good point. I just modified the routes page so they’re sorted in descending W/kg order like the climbs.
Thanks a lot. And thanks for your great page.
OMG Zwift finally getting away from using a Climb of the Week that’s also in the regular portal that week? 😀 Or does this still need to be updated as March was filled here along with February and the Climb Portal schedule for March was only updated yesterday :p
Yay, after one whole month of having the Climb of the Week actually not being one that’s already featured that week in the regular portal, we’ve back to silly duplicates. What a waste….
yes this is really getting annoying.
Eric, did Zwift silently change how the Challenges of the Week work? Route of the Week and Climb of the Week seem to be combined in one two-step-challenge now. That’s why I think I only got 250 XP for Downtown Eruption yesterday, not 500.
I think I experienced the same thing today. From the “Challenge” card, the Route of the Week and the Climb of the Week appear to have been combined and there is a single 500 XP bonus for completing both. @eschlange1 do you have information regarding this.
I have been thinking that there has just been a change. I think you now get 250xp for the first challenge and 500xp for the second irrespective of the order you do them. I have just done the climb and was expecting 500 but definitely only got 250. When I do the route of the week I hope to get 500 rather than the 250 for tempus fugit. Certainly last week I did the easier challenge second and was surprised to get 500 but didn’t check after the first challenge.
Zwift is running an A/B test between the old way of doing these and a new combined way. I’m still seeing the old way, but some (like you) are seeing it combined. A bit confusing, but it makes sense that Zwift would want to test it first I suppose…
After riding both the RoW and Cow (finally) this week, I too see that the expected bonus XPs were awarded. Thanks Mike for your reply.
Noticed this too, 500xp you have to complete both route and climb, instead of 500xp for one and 250xp for the other, can do either one or both but still get xp. Why is Zwift doing this right before they change the leveling system to infinite meaningless levels, when so many of us of working our butts off getting all the XP we can to make it to level 100 before the change? I can’t figure out whether zwift staff is just trolling us, or if they just don’t ever think about how the changes they make affect users. Infuriating.
MeetUps…Does clicking the Route of the Week on the home page “register” you so you can back out to your MeetUp or do you have the “Start” the ride then back out and get into the MeetUp? I don’t see where it says “registered” like on the 4×4 or other events/challenges. .
You don’t need to register. Just create the meet up on that route and ride it, and you should get credit for the route of the week.
So for June 2026 it’s switching to 500XP for both items (route and climb) each week, rather than 250 for one and 500 for the other?
Yup. They just changed it.
Both the climb and the route are short now and the XP awarded increased. Was this change supposed to make us feel better about the recent devaluation of XP and levelling? They should be called “The Weekly Zwift Participation Trophies” because the difficulty level has decreased significantly.
In June is it 500xp for both route and climb ? In previous weeks it’s been 250 and 500 @Eric Schlange
looks that way
Is the June calendar correct, both COTW and ROTW show both gain 500 XP every week. Every previous month it has alternated between 250 XP and 500XP.
My route and climb are different this week @Eric Schlange
They’ve changed. Used to be 500 each. Now is 250 each, combined underneath the same tile. Change was made sometime today, because this morning showed a different set of routes than what it shows now.
So all the clubs that had group,or banded ROTW rides tomorrow morning on Beach Island Loop are in for a negative surprise with the change to Downtown Eruption. Zwift just couldn’t leave it alone until the last week of June was finished as previously published. This kind of decision making really irritates the user base.
So 250 xp each for the ride of the week and the climb of the week.
Plus another 500 if both are completed?
Or did I misread/misunderstand?
I haven’t tested to confirm, but Zwift says you get 250 for the first one, 500 for the second. Regardless of which order you do them in.
Surprised they’re running Alto de Patios during the TDF. OTOH, they’re running a lot of French climbs in the daily portal. And there’s the Tourmalet in the monthly one, like they had the script for the 2026 Tour.
Seems that they’ve gone back to separate home page cards for climb of the week and route of the week.
another week
another change to the ride of the week rules
so soooooooo zwift
Yes, they announced it on their forum.
Thanks I dont look at their forum. Perhaps I should.
I noticed that too.
