All About Week Streaks on Zwift

First introduced to Zwifters in December 2023, Week Streaks is a game feature designed to encourage consistency in training. Zwifters build up their streak by logging at least one ride or run per week, and as your streak grows, you unlock some in-game rewards.

Here’s how it all works…

Week Streak Basics

Your Zwift Week Streak is counted in weeks (not days), and you earn certain rewards each week your streak is extended.

When you save a Zwift ride or run, you’ll see Progress Report screen, which includes your current Week Streak:

You can also tap the “Fitness Trends” title in the Companion app and scroll down to see your Week Streaks summary. This shows several streak details, including:

  • Your Streak length (number of weeks)
  • How many streak savers you’re holding
  • Total calories burned during your streak
  • Total distance covered during your streak
  • Total elevation climbed during your streak

Starting and Extending Your Streak

Starting your streak is easy: just record a ride at least 2km (1.25 miles) in length, or a run at least 0.8km (0.5 miles) long! This can take place on Zwift, or outside if you have your Wahoo, Garmin, or Hammerhead account connected to Zwift (learn how to do that here).

Extending your streak is just as easy: record a ride or run, indoors or out, and your streak will be extended for that week.

Streak Savers

Since Zwifters may be unable to ride or run for a week or more due to vacation, injury, or other factors. Zwift introduced Streak Savers, which are automatically used to extend your streak if you have a week with no qualifying activities.

Streak Savers are displayed in the Companion app, next to your Week Streak score:

You earn a Streak Saver by accumulating 12 consecutive weeks of riding, and you can hold up to two Streak Savers at any given time.

Streak Rewards

Seeing your weekly streak count continue to climb is certainly a reward in itself, which is why so many apps use daily streaks to encourage consistent use (looking at you, Duolingo!)

Zwift sweetens the deal even further, though, by giving us bonus XP every time our streak is extended via a Zwift session:

  • Week 1: You’ll earn 300 bonus XP just for starting your streak.
  • Week 2: Extended your streak to 2 weeks? You’ll earn 400 bonus XP.
  • Week 3+: Every time you extend your streak past week 2, you’ll earn 500 bonus XP.

Streak Flair

On top of the bonus XP, in April 2025 Zwift introduced the concept of Streak Flair: a visual upgrade to our avatars that changes based on the length of your streak. Right now, Streak Flair is simply different versions of “pocket Scotty”, Zwift’s squirrel mascot. There are three levels of Streak Flair available:

  • Level 1 (4 weeks): a pocket Scotty medal
  • Level 2 (12 weeks): medal is upgraded to a keychain Scotty
  • Level 3 (24 weeks): keychain Scotty is upgraded to a larger, animated Scotty! This Scotty will stay with you as long as you hold onto your streak.

Streak Flair is turned off by default, so if you want your pocket Scotty to be visible to you and others, you’ll need to go into Settings>Audio & Video and set “Streak Flair” to “Fun”:

Checking Your Streak

The easiest way to see your current streak count is via the Zwift Companion app (available on iOS and Android). Your week streak is displayed in the Fitness Tracker at the top right of the homescreen:

You’ll also see your streak count each time you save a ride or run on Zwift.

A Few More Details

  • Time window: Zwift counts a new week from 00:00 Monday through 23.59 on Sunday, local time, as defined on the device you’re using to run Zwift.
  • Earning Streak Savers: you must actually ride or run 12 weeks in a row to earn a new Streak Saver. Whenever you use a Streak Saver, the 12-week counter resets.
  • Pocket Scotty is weightless: I tested it myself. Having him in your pocket won’t slow you on climbs (or make you less aerodynamic).
  • XP bonus for Zwift rides or runs only: You will not earn your 300/400/500XP week streak extension bonus for an outdoor ride. But the first Zwift ride or run you finish for the week will award you that XP bonus, so if you want the week streak XP bonuses, ride or run on Zwift at least once a week!
  • Subscribers only: you must have an active Zwift subscription to extend your streak.

Thanks for the very clear and to the point explanation of the Week Streaks Eric. I’m curious what will happen when the counter reaches 100, it looks like the dashboard is not prepared for that.

Well, I found out last week. Your counter resets to zero, you lose your Scotty and you lose your streak savers. You basically have to start all over again.

That sucks it restarts! We should get 1000XP or something special. Too bad it doesn’t keep track and if they make it triple digits then it would update to your respective streak. Kind of like they do with the levels.

“Streak saver” is an oxymoron.

It’s either a streak or it isn’t. Nobody would ever say a team is on a 20 game winning streak if it lost a game in the middle.

There’s nothing wrong with starting a new streak if your last one ended.

I think it’s of value to save people from going overboard when injured or when they should skip.
if it’s known and everyone can use, there isn’t a downside. We all have to balance life and fun.

Chris is right.

There’s also plenty of research on the motivational value of streaks, habit-forming, and loss aversion. Conversely, losing a streak can be highly demotivating, and actually make you less likely to carry on (vs. starting a new streak). So the Streak Savers balance this, by allowing a streak to continue while allowing for unavoidable blips such as vacation, injury, and illness. This improves long-term engagement.

At the end of the day, this is just a game, and streaks are a way to motivate positive activity (exercise)…so if the Streak Saver helps with that, it’s a good thing.

Well I’m up there with You… I’m at Week 72 😳
It started last year when I had major Shoulder
Surgery, which then took me off the Bike for a
long time… I’m not sure why I guess, but I just
kept Riding on Zwift. Now that it is this time of
the year (I’m in Nor-Cal). I have started Riding
outdoors with my Friends, and doing the Race
Rides that I love to do… I’m a little Bummed,
because I have a Bryston Computer (which I like).
I guess I’ll just have to wait, to see if Zwift
adds it to the List of Cycle Computers that will
work?

AND ! I’m still getting time on the Trainer and Zwift,
because now my Goal is 100 💪🚴🚴🚴

Because I’m here…Below is a Question (recent) that I
posted on a very old Topic that you had on the Reference
Drop Down… Wheels and Frames. I was hoping you
might have seen it, but i guess not.

Hey Eric,

Hope you had a Good Time in Mallorca. Hope you
see this… Since Zwift is now having the Up-Grades
to Bike Frames. As an example, I ride the Felt AR15.
There are 5 Up-Grades available, and so far I have 3.
Arrow, Weight, Drive Train Up-Grade… The next is again
an Aero Up-Grade… The Question is? Is there a way that
I can find out what each Up-Grade does, and how it
improves the Frame from Stock?

Thank you, Fred 👍

Hi Eric,
Do you have to action a Streak Saver to use it, or will Zwift automatically do so if you have them accumulated and you miss a week? Thanks.

Does it consume one streak saver by week missed or only one by “period”. So if I go to vacation for 2 complete weeks. Will it consume 2 streak saver (one by week) or only one for the whole absence period ?
Thanks

I can understand xp points for riding outsides but i do not agree that even if u’re riding only outside u can extend your week streak. Does this means that my streak keeps on growing even if i suspend my subscription?

Is it just a single ride for the “week” extends the streak or is there a minimum of days required?

Hi Eric, my second ride of the week was on Zwift. I still didn’t get the Streak screen at the end of the ride and it is hard to tell if I got the XP bonus. I’ll check again next week trying to track my XP score after each ride

Eric, there is another bug with the +500 XP weekly streak bonus I just verified earlier today. I went for a 30 mile outdoors ride this morning, rain weather forecast beater, then jumped on my smart trainer after I got back for a cooldown Zwift session of 8 miles. This was my only Zwift session this week, so I should have been awarded the 500 XP – I never saw the streak bonus screen come up after I ended my session. I track my XP religiously now with a spreadsheet, and have just updated it to track my earned XP both from Zwift sessions and outdoors riding. Apparently the feature can’t differentiate between a “two a day” activity. Curious to see how it would work if you did two Zwift sessions OR two outdoors rides in a single day.

There is still the bug. If the first ride of the week is outdoors, no 500xp even doing zwift on the same week.

So its not working for me Eric. I’ve been riding outside just on Mondays of the last 3 weeks. Riding Zwift Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. And not getting any bonus streak points.

Hi Eric, I just retested after update to 1.93.0 and it is still broken! I did my normal outdoor on Monday and then the “Route of the week” today (Tuesday). I got the 500xp bonus for completing the challenge but after finishing, still no streak screen and no 500xp bonus. I tried another short Zwift ride of 2km to double check this.

Why is my pocket Scotty doesn’t fully show his full head like I see most others do? As you can see he is just peaking out and not completely showing. I’m at week 76 for streak. Thank you.

I am at week 101 and have been able to see Scotty’s chin for several weeks now. My brother in week 30 something and can see Scotty’s teeth but not his chin. His Scotty is animated like mine though.

When did the ‘Streak Saver’ start?
I went on holiday from the 10th April for two weeks and found when I got back that my streak was set to zero.
I have read that if I subscribed monthly I could pause my account (assuming the streak would pause also) but this cannot be done when on an annual subscription.
Is there any way of getting my streak back?

Hi Eric,
Extending on above question – I am a monthly subscriber and on 82 week streak.
If I pause my subscription, will my streak pause at 82 (but not extend to 83) or will it reset to 0 (after exhausting the two streak savers)? Provided I continue doing outdoor rides and/or >2KM Zwift rides every week. TIA

Hi all!

Streak Saver is 12w periodic.Ok. Easy to understand.2*2 week we have 2 streak saver. Ok.

Now, for exemple, if i ride for 3*12-2 (34) weeks with no savers used. And i use it for a “missed/inactive” 35th week (the 2nd “spot” is free now). What happens in the 36 week ?
A/get a 2nd saver
B/no getting a 2nd saver for now, we have to get an 24-1(=23) weeks of riding.
🟪 If A, saver should be used strategically near the 24 weeks but before the 24w limit. I call it “the bunking strategy”
🟪 If B, saver must be used not only before the 24w. But just after 12w limit (ex 13w)? We can call it “the time saving strategy” or the “the burning strategy” or “the renewal strategy” . It is more risky

(Excuse my english if it’s confused, by the way)

Weekly streak bonus for 2Km+ on Zwift is no longer given to riders using the free every calandar month 25Km, you must be a paying subscriber to get the 300/400/500XP bonus.

If I do an outdoor ride before an indoor ride, I did not get the 500xp that I normaly get when I complete consecutive week training. Is it normal?

Apparently, when you hit streak level 100, your counter resets to zero, you lose your Scotty and you lose your streak savers. You basically have to start all over again. This is what happened to me last week.

I haven’t missed a single week since the start, so how come I’m only at week 100 when others are at week 101 or even week 102?

when did the week streak start?

If I count back from 100 weeks, it started on the 4th of december 2023.

I have been zwifting every week since early October 2023 though…

Just link your garmin edge to your zwift account and go for a 2km walk with your garmin edge recording it as a ride each week to keep your streak alive.

Hi Tim, I think the answer to your question is, probably! But, I do have my Wahoo linked to Zwift which works fine on my outdoor rides now but it didn’t seem to work while I was away in New Zealand, but I’m going back to NZ soon and will try again. To be honest I probably forgot to do something while I was away, tech and me don’t get along to well!!👴🏻

I checked this morning as it was my first and only ride this week. I checked the final post ride xp. And then after the summary page and it increased by 500xp. So it does work. But there was no pop up of +500xp anywhere and I was watching for it. Think it needs to be added
