Zwift version 1.88 begins its phased rollout today. It’s a minor release, containing mostly visual tweaks and bug fixes. Read on for details…
Hilltop Hustle Opens Up
Not mentioned in Zwift’s release notes, the new “Hilltop Hustle” route which was released as event-only a few updates ago is now available to free ride in Watopia. Ready for some hill repeats?
“Close the Gap” Changes

Zwift’s release notes say, “Visual improvements to the in-game ‘Close the Gap’ banner.” Here are more details of what has changed:
- Smoother transition between distance numbers if a closer bike comes into draft range
- Indicator now ignores players that aren’t moving
- Indicator will not appear if speed difference is outside limits (no more popup for bikes going too fast to draft)
New Climb Portals
Two new climbs have been added to the Climb Portal library:
- Cauberg (0.8km, 57m): featuring in the Amstel Gold Race on April 20
- Côte de la Redoute (1.5km, 153m): featuring in Liège–Bastogne–Liège April 27
These short climbs are scheduled in the coming days, and we’ll be building out their detail pages here on Zwift Insider ASAP.
Release Notes
Zwift provided notes on additional tweaks and bug fixes in this update:
- Fixed an issue that could potentially cause Bike Upgrade progress to be counted toward a non-equipped bike.
- Streak Flair is no longer visible in HoloReplays.

Any idea when are they fixing the garage? Becuase, at lest to me, the garege is back to alphabetical order instead of the most recent used bikes/wheels/hats first.
Glad to see someone else reporting this. Makes for a less than efficient experience switching bikes if you’re trying to gain meters towards climbing bike upgrades on long climbs and kms towards distance based upgrades on the descents and flats
Efficiency? You’re playing a video game not engineering a 40 million part per year production line. It’ll be alright. Take a day off
So efficiency is only relevant if 40 million parts per year are at stake?
I would agree that it is not a huge deal on efficiency, maybe you can call it a quality of life issue. But as it is a video game, it is mainly there to improve your quality of life…
In any ways, efficiency or not, it is a bug. And a bug should be fixed.
Maybe you should take a day off of the internet 🙂
Efficiency is wonderful when it works. People were selecting bikes only to find they weren’t riding what they thought they were. I was one of those affected and it wasn’t fun to stop on a banded group ride to switch bikes and then have to chase on at 3+ Watts per kilo for several km.
I look forward to reinstatement when it’s fixed and fully tested.
same here and I was not amused when I noticed that my whole sorting in all areas a month ago was senseless
They intentionally disabled it around the time of the last update (I noticed it on iOS a couple days before the update was available to me).
They say it will be re-enabled “in the near future.”
My understanding is that this a server-side disablement of the feature flag and independent of the software version you are running. The root cause of the issue is that sometimes people were being put onto an incorrect bicycle regardless of a previous selection, and they are reviewing their code to ensure that this doesn’t occur. In the meantime, they have temporarily disabled the garage sorting feature while they identify and patch the root cause of the erroneous bicycle assignments.
For what it is worth, I had this happen a few times myself. “This isn’t the bike I selected.”
Given that people are upgrading their specific bicycles now, I can understand why they would disable this feature until there is a definitive patch. It would be terrible if someone jumped on with a RoboPacer, rode a long ride like 100km or so, and then found that they were on the wrong bicycle the entire time because they were switched at the start and didn’t expect it, and didn’t notice because whatever was selected looked similar to what was expected.
In the instances it occurred to me, it was more obvious because the bicycle looked different. Some of them look very similar.
I’ve got the new release and my garage sorted by most recently used again. Nice
On further review: no, they have not fixed it. I was suckered into thinking they had because in a single session, the bikes you use will then be ordered in your garage by recently used, so I thought, hey fixed. But if you quite zwift and restarte it? back to alphabetical. Sigh.
Yeah, I saw that everything was sorted in the morning, but then when I rode in the evening, it updated again and reset everything to alphabetical. I know it’s a “first world problem,” but it’s one that most regular Zwifters would surely like to see sorted.
I would like to see a new World created – racing circuits as in formula one racing circuits, and Le Mans 24 Hour circuit.
I’m wondering when they will reduce the weight of my Cannondale Lab71? Wired and wireless shifting seems overkill for climbs, and nobody breaks in Zwiftopia anyway.
Happy they fixed this one – made the holoreplays pretty creepy with huge moving squirrel parts spearing out of them. And if you think I’m exaggerating I am not a single bit, it was pretty crazy looking. I have a 24+ week streak with holoreplays enabled and it was quite motivating to be in front of the replay at least
> Streak Flair is no longer visible in HoloReplay
Missed that one. Maybe they should re-enable it during Halloween and switch Scotty the Squirrel for a creature from the movie “Aliens” 😉
That would be horrific and awesome. No idea what programming error caused Scotty-in-the-holoreplay-pocket to be like 10x the size of Scotty-in-the-non-holoreplay-pocket, and also to be partially disassembled, but it is/was definitely a thing. Quite odd
I had this too. It was a bit alien-esque
Absolutely “no, thank you” on that one.
My treadmill Horizon Paragon X stopped connecting to zwift after 1.86 update. It shows connected in the initial screen but after I am logged into the Zwift world, it shows that the connection fails. With that it works without any problem with MyWhoosh, so it’s Zwift problem.
I’ve noticed a number of outdoor rides are not counting for XP especially late last week. I’ve had my Wahoo connected since the update went live. Some rides showed up with the sunny icon and XP, later in the week last week, they stopped counting for XP but still show up in Companion. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting from the Companion app to no avail.
Interesting, it seems like connecting Zwift to Wahoo via the iPhone Companion app does not get rides to sync for XP. But connecting Zwift to Wahoo via the desktop (using Zwift.com) does.
Cauberg looks like great opportunity for anyone looking to juice their XP. Extremely short duration, passing 10 award spots plus the award at top.
It is but you need to be quick on the Power Up bin icon for all the feathers especially if riding it at 50%. The 10 banners are very close together and using a 30 second feather PU (say from banner 9) stops you using the next PU (from banner 8) before you hit the banner 7. Most of the times I’ve ridden the Cauberg at either 100% or 50% I’ve managed at least one 250 XP PU.
Trash the feathers.
Still no ultra profile for AMDs new Radeon 9070 & 9070 XT cards… although Zwift says they’re working on it (how hard can it be…)
Any idea when display scaling might return? I primarily use Zwift with my mobile phone and some of the text requires an electron microscope. Especially the list and attributes of routes.
anyone knows HUD with core sensor release date ?
Zwift hires a pothole team. 5 folks to lean on shovels while one works? The real question in when are they gonna fix the elevators in the underground?
The RideOn notification sound/ping now ignores the audio Game Sound Volume setting. I have it off and get annoying pings every ride on I receive. This is a regression as the audio setting used to work.
say you are build to the specialised project 74 bike. which three specialised bikes do i need to ride? are there restrictions? would basic tarmac or allez plus aethos and sl8 be ok?
I’m trying to figure out why Zwitt limits me to 1080p in Windows 11. I’ve upgraded to a new motherboard, processor, and graphics card, but oddly enough, my older and slower system allowed higher resolutions. Could this be a compatibility issue?
Let me guess: you went AMD?
