Launched in Zwift’s August 2021 update, Valley to Mountaintop is sort of the sister route of “Sea to Tree“. Both start near the Village Onsen start pens, but they each attack the Temple KOM from a different side.

Bike Selection

There is no perfect bike for this route, but a gravel bike will give you the biggest advantage when it matters most (on the dirt climbs). Just be ready to push hard on the tarmac if you’re in a race situation!

Route Description

Route profile by ZwiftHub – the place to plan and track your route achievements!

Beginning near the Village Onsen start pens, we travel toward Village Onsen then turn left into the Golden Forest. Enjoy climbing this beautiful dirt trail, then turn right onto the tarmac toward the Castle area.

This pavement will carry you to the start of the Temple KOM – a dirt singletrack winding up through the enchanted forest to the Giant Mystical Tree, where the KOM banner resides and this route ends.

Once you’ve finished the climb, enjoy the descent down the other side – you earned it!

Maybe start including % tarmac/dirt in Route Basics? I rode this on a road bike and it was ok.

Not sure if bike selection matters to most riders, especially with Apple TV where it’s a huge pain to change.
