“Going Coastal” Route Details (Watopia)
Sort of the “desert version” of Temple Trek, this is one of the shorter routes released with Zwift’s October 2023 coastal road expansion. It’s a very flat route, beginning at the desert arch in Fuego Flats and takes you partway down the new coastal road.

Route Description
Begin in fast, flat Fuego Flats, then turn at the LAX roundabout in Saddle Springs to access the new southern coastal road.
You’ll quickly ride through Googie Springs then enter the Evergreen Coast section, where you’ll hit the Woodland Sprint then the Sasquatch Sprint, where this route officially ends.
First 😜🤩
Where do you go once you complete the route, e.g. on a group ride?
continue, U-turn or teleport are all good options =)
U-turn or teleport do not work on a group ride. I am curious what happens when a group reaches the end of a route before the (time-based) group ride ends. 😀
Once you complete the Going Coastal route, the route badge, and the XP bonus, you continue on the current road heading toward the Mayan jungle. You will be in the area where the sasquatch is known to roam, so you can look for him or her. Good luck! If there is still time left for the group event, you will turn left or right randomly once you get to the jungle. During a recent group ride, half the group went left toward the Alp du Zwift climb while the others went toward the right. If you take your time and ride less than 30… Read more »
@Eric Schlange There is something wrong here.
Start & FinishBegins with a lead-in to the desert arch, and ends at the Stoneway Sprint.
then the Sasquatch Sprint, where this route officially ends.
Dont think this route will go to the Stoneway Sprint.
Fixed, thanks!
I was planning to take my BMTR Faster Masters group on this course for our Tuesday, October 31 ride. After riding a test ride today I think I will have to change plans. There is no turnaround to follow the course back. Once the course ended Zwift took me to the Jungle for endless counter-clockwise loops. I can’t believe Zwift would offer this route to groups without providing a loop back to the start or a turnaround. It is a nice course, but a huge setback for offering group rides.
You could do what group rides used to do back in the days before Zwift had automatic routing during group rides and manually select the route. Once everyone gets to the Mayan jungle, have everybody in your peloton stop and exit the group ride, perform a U-turn, and head toward Google Springs. Regroup in the tunnel and ride together toward the LAX roundabout. It would be helpful if everybody wore the same kit. You will not have the chevrons or beacons, and other riders will be on the route, but it is doable and may even present a little fun change of pace.… Read more »
I don’t think this route is restricted to level 10+. I’m new to Zwift and completed this route last night as a level 3, became level 4 in the middle of the route. And I got the badge upon completion. I started the route from the Tour of Watopia and page, not sure if that affected it.
You’re right – it won’t be restricted to 10+ until Tour of Watopia ends. I’ll update all 8 routes so they don’t show a restriction for now…
Fun ride. I am really liking the new Watopia routes. Colorful and challenging.Good job Zwift!
That was fun, pity it finishes half way along the coast though!.
