Route Description

Begin near the Jungle pens and travel down to the new coastal road, hitting the forward version of all four sprints as you ride the new road toward Fuego Flats. Here they are, in order:

Make your way through the maritime village of Googie Springs then up to Saddle Springs in the desert for a quick turnaround at the LAX roundabout. You’re past the halfway mark!

Descend through the concrete tunnel and it’s time to come back on the coastal road in the opposite direction, hitting all four sprints once more as you travel through the Evergreen Coast section (watch for Sasquatch!), Cuidad la Cumbre, and the Mayan-themed settlement of Sandy Coast. Your ride ends at the final sprint (Stoneway Sprint Reverse).

Looks solid for doing intervals – good spacing of the sprints

I dont like how it abruptly ends at the dirt in the jungle, i would like to see a full clean loop

I sort of hoped they’d get rid of the jungle dirt in the update and replacing it with tarmac. I fully understand the appeal of gravel in real life, but I don’t understand its point in game whatsoever.

Agreed as well. They should allow a fast bike change for non racing if they’re not going to pave the jungle so you could at least cover it on a more suitable bike

Agreed. I thought I was done the jungle forever when I knocked off the Uberpretzel. as my last-to-complete route. (Except for the lead-in to the Alpe). But here it is again. Sigh. Except for when it’s used on Tour of Watopia stages, the jungle has always been a ghost town. Take the hint Zwift. Break out the heavy equipment and pave it already. I’d happily ride the jungle on a regular basis if it wasn’t for the gravel.

It’s completely ruined the jungle section of Watopia for me. Other than trying a couple of these new routes, I haven’t ridden that area in a couple of years. Just a dreadful experience when you seem to be riding in quicksand.

consider mid-ride bike change

I did the sugar cookie route today, switched for MTB for the jungle section, much faster. Will see how it goes tomorrow and report back!

There are indeed two other routes which complete the loop.

I, on the other hand, wished this route extended all the way to cover Fuego Flats (the whole Tempus Fugit route) for a truly long flat excursion which can be used to clock mileage for events!

Hate the gravel. Expect most riders will avoid that section.

I just completed the Coast Crusher route as a free ride and Zwift subsequently credited me with completing stage 5 of the 2023 Tour of WATOPIA!

don’t understand the down voting on this one? ToW is on demand this round, so this is by design

do we need a gravel bike for this course?

Nah I would go Aero Bike and some big deep section wheels. The lead in is dirt road, but the rest is smooth, flat tarmac

Did this route in ToW yesterday. It’s fantastic. Looking forward to riding and training on the other new routes. Well done Zwift👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Agreed, and it’s got some nice rolling gradient changes so it is not just pan flat.

Did this route in DIRT 505 ride on Saturday. Beautiful scenery but upon return in the jungle the group was split up in two (one group to the left, the other to the right). My group (right) lost the ride leader. We met them sort of half way through the jungle and expected to be reunited again for second Coast route, but then we got stuck in eternal Jungle loop… So ZwiftHQ, still some bugs to fix I guess… 🙂 Btw, I’m not a jungle lover at all, but when realizing we were stuck I quickly swapped to MTB and… Read more »

The route ends before you return to the jungle and so you were just free riding at that point with no chosen route. Seems that Zwift allocated some of you to the anti-clockwise jungle loop and some to the clockwise loop.

It’s annoying as for a route like this there should be a point which defaults to sending you back along the route you’ve just come from, rather than just having you ride off the end of the route.

Makes sense. But that means this route is not very suitable for events which go for longer time/distance than the route is. But more for ride organizers to take into account 🙂

savage route for racing. breakaway artist’s dream. long route with lots of ramps = lots of surges = lots of matches burned, eventually someone will crack!

Was it my imagination or did they actually pave some of the jungle (or did I just not notice the turnoff to the new road)? I thought coming out of the cave at the bottom of the jungle that was dirt, but now it’s paved?

Never mind. Watched the video and see mistake. Was too focused on the group in the ToW today and didn’t see where we turned. 😝

Lead this route and when we came back to the jungle, we got split into two groups. Then we just ended up doing endless loops of the jungle until the ride was over. It’s a major glitch that’s happening on group rides. Even after the event was over, no direction in companion app to navigate out.

Tony Lane
Tony Lane

That’s not a glitch, it’s because the route ends before the jungle. You are then just free riding and so some will have been sent clockwise around the jungle and other anti-clockwise. You should have been able to each manually navigate out of the jungle as on any free ride, that is not ideal for a group ride when you need everyone to do that. Zwift really should have a single default that takes everyone the same way, or they should amend the route so that you continue to the jungle, cross the bridge in the middle and then return… Read more »

Our group got split, I think that part is a glitch. Definitely will not be doing this route on group rides anymore. Companion app showed U turn after the event but that’s it. I feel there are definitely glitches going on. Route is nice for free ride, but leaders should stay away from it for group rides, which is a shame.

It’s a bit of a shame that you get “stuck in the jungle” at the end of the loop.
They should’ve at least made you turn back into the route after a jungle loop but quite honestly they should’ve just made sort of a roundabound at the temples just like they did on both sides of Tempus Fugit.

I agree. More could’ve been done with this route. Shame group rides can’t occur on it.

Isn’t the route also very good for a ride with a tt frame, since you get the additional xp with the 8 banners? Or are there routes that are more worthwhile?
