    Route Description

The Knickerbocker route begins on the ground-level roads of Central Park. Rolling, but without any climbs that are particularly steep or longer than a minute of effort. We do recommend watching out for the twisty Harlem Hill on the northern part of the course, if you’re in a race – this is where the first attacks will happen.

    Passing through the Sprint Reverse
    Up the KOM!
    Through the lap banner

Just after hitting the NYC Sprint Reverse the pavement turns to glass, as the road pitches upward, and this is where the real work begins. It’s time to climb the NYC KOM Forward! This is by far the biggest climb and most selective feature on the route, and you’ll hit it a total of three times.

After descending back to ground-level roads riders will head to the northern Harlem Hill area once more, descending Harlem Hill then climbing for another short effort before heading back to the lap banner.

Watch for the quick rise of Cat’s Paw Hill heading into the lap banner, then take a deep breath. That’s one lap. You’ve got 1.5 left!

Your finish line is atop the NYC KOM Forward on your third time up. Best of luck!

It is so incredibly disappointing that Strava does not backfill new segment with prior efforts. It has made a majority of the Zwift segments on Strava completely useless, because they were re-created and don’t contain older efforts.

Speaking of “cat’s Paw,” there is a bronze statue of a mountain lion with an outstretched paw on the inside lane of the hill at 110th street. It doesn’t appear in the game! I miss it from my youth in the City.

What bike would you recommend for TDZ Stage 8 on this course? Haven’t earned the Tron bike yet!

Theres a lot of flat terrain, so a balanced bike looks ok. So tron looks fine. No funny terrain types either.

Thanks Asd, but Daryly wants to know a bike other the TRON which he doesn’t have. Any suggestions?

I like Scott Addict with DT Swiss (not disc) wheels. Pretty good balance between climbing and aero, shouldn’t be a problem to stay drafting in a pack and shouldn’t weigh you down on a climb.

Any time limit on the ride once you start? (old and slow here so I won’t likely complete under 2hrs)

I don’t think there is any time limit, everything being virtual means you don’t really need to cut things off.

It’s an event only route, those do not get badges.

I would guess no. In general you have to pick the exact route before you ride, or join an event for that exact route. If someone has tried this please post.

You got the badge from riding the long stage 8? Or the standard stage 8?

Any chance this gets added to Veloviewer like the 2015 UCI Richmond route?

Probably not as long as it remains an event only route. So far no event-only route has been added to veloviewer. I personally would like to see event only routes in veloviewer, it’d be fun.

Any idea why the KOM is not showing on the third time up? I did this route with TdZ8 two days ago, and recorded a PR up the final climb according to Strava, but this is not recognised on your profile above, or in Zwiftpower (segment points). Very annoying for I presume a tiny error in the course mapping?
