All About Zwift’s Hidden “Extra Credit” Achievement Badges

    Eric Schlange
    By Eric Schlange
    October 24, 2019
    99

If you click Menu>Badges in game, you’ll find a list of achievement badges you can (or have) earned, including the newly-added Route Achievements.

But did you know there is an entire set of “Extra Credit” achievements which are not visible on the list? That’s right, there are additional achievements which are only visible after you do them.

You might ask, “How do I chase the achievement if I don’t know it exists?” And we would answer, “… that’s a good question.”

    So here’s the complete list!

    • 100KPH! (You hit 100KPH!)
    • Just scrape it (You hit 800 watts)
    • The blowdrier (You hit 900 watts)
    • Premier power (You hit 1000 watts)
    • Off the rocks (You hit 1100 watts)
    • 1.21 gigawatts (You hit 1200 watts)
    • You’re famous (You received 30 Ride Ons in one ride)
    • Going the distance (You ran 26.2 miles)
    • Olympian (You ran a mile in under 5 minutes)
    • Everested! (You climed 29,029 ft in one activity)
    • Bigger than Jensie (You received 100 Ride Ons in one ride)
    • Liftoff! (Climbed Alpe du Zwift in under an hour)

When you receive one of these badges, they will show up in the “Extra Credit” section of your badges page:

Do you know if you have to be in km mode to get the 100km/hr one? I was at 64 mph and didn’t get it….

One needs 100 Ride Ons in one ride to unlock it.

The listing said 30 in one ride yields “You’re famous,” and 100 in one ride yields “Bigger than Jensie,” so if A. Edh was accurate, they should have gotten the famous badge.

They have to be given during the ride. You can check how many you have as you “end ride” but you can back out if you want to continue.

I believe it does not count any rideon’s from people who are not riding. ie. From the companion app but not currently on an activity.

I got this one yesterday and was watching the number tick up on the Companion app; Ride Ons from people not currently in an activity themselves do count towards the 30, but any Ride Ons received after you finish your activity do not.

So if you finish in the high 20s and receive a few Ride Ons after the end of your activity (e.g. from people spotting your completed activity in the feed) then you can end up with over 30 but not receive the badge.

      Hope that helps!

      Hi all,
Last year I did a vEveresting on Alpe du Zwift and got the Everesting badge. But unfortunately those 8 climbs haven’t been added to the total climbs to the Alpe du Zwift, so I have to do some extra climbs to get the masochist badge. Zwift couldn’t explain the reason of this “bug”.
Does anyone know about this problem?

I’ve had some Zwift bugs force me to re-ride routes (Quatch Quest, etc…) before, but THAT is the worst bug, bar none.

My guess on this, which is strictly a guess, is that you may not have gone far enough past the bottom of the Alpe for Zwift to recognize that you were starting again. I think you have to go past the start marker at the bottom for a way, possibly even out to the dirt road, before turning around to begin your next ascent.

How do you tell how many reps up the Alpe are counted by Zwift? Or is it because you thought you’d done 25 and didn’t get the badge that you know?

No way to tell from within Zwift. I use the Strava segments to track how many times I’ve done it. https://www.strava.com/segments/17267489

A general Catch 22 is if you deviate from a route (accidently hit the turn around button and then correct) you do not get credit for the route though Strava credits a path that covers the segment.

Hey, does anyone know if you can get all cycling archivements and have a full bar in the badges list? I have 101/127 shown and there are only 5 cycling ones left. That means I can only archive all by running?

You need to ride until Zwift pops up the “Route complete” window. Which is *not* always at the distance the route selection says the length is. Today I got a badge at Volcano Circuit @km 5.5 of the 4.1km route.

Important – this caught me out a couple of times as well. Some routes have a long “run in” up to the triggering banner. The actual route only starts then. It also needs a banner to trigger the end of a route.

Have read bugs/ comments on this. 10k or 6.2 miles min per day for 14 days straight. So just to be safe around up the mileage and push to 15 days. That should do the trick.

Are these still active and being awarded? I hit 100kph coming down from WKOM today, but just for the absolute shortest time — flickered 100 for maybe one refresh period and couldn’t get back above 99… and I don’t have the badge.

Could be that you didn’t actually hit 100kph. As far as I can see, both the gradient and speed are rounded, so Zwift will show 100kph on screen for speeds between 99.50 and 100.49 kph.

I will probably never get the 900/1000/1100/1200w badges.

Has the list of extra credit badges been added to recently?
Looking at my achievement list it shows 74 out of 120.
From what I can see there are:
12 badges in the first section,
      17 in Cycling achievements section,
      67 Route Badges,
12 Extra Credit badges listed in this section.
That all comes to a total of 108, which leaves an additional 12 super secret extra extra credit badges….

Do you have any extra credits?

I have 3 extra credits and my total is xx/121. This means the total standard/visible is 121-3=118

12 standard (think these are in both), 17 cycling achievements, 67 routes = 96

      11 running achievements, 11 routes = 22

      96+22=118 visible achievements

      118 + 12 secret = 130 total possible achievements

I’m sure you already know this, but I believe I know why there is a 1.21 Gigawatts badge as opposed to 1,200 W…I was re-watching Back to the Future tonight and that is the power required to make the Delorean transport in time. 1.21 Gigawatts. So I am guessing it is an homage to that movie. Have you confirmed this?

Knocked off all of the power badges today. However, this was due to some tech malfunction as my power went haywire at one point and the badges just kept appearing. Ride analysis shows max wattage of 723 (which is probably 200 higher than I actually put out) but the badges remain.

It feels unfair that the power related achievements are rewarded based on raw power numbers. As a 67kg rider, hitting 700 watts feels impossible. I was breaking the handle bar and tearing my quads to generate more power but I only got up to 6xx watts. Do other light weight riders experience the same or am I just a power-wimp. I am sure heavier riders can just do a small run standing up to hit 700 or higher. Yes, I am complaining and ranting about it. Any possibility that they change it to be based on watts per kilos?

You can do it! Im 73Kg’, 54 yrs, my FTP is only 200 but if you go very slow up the radio tower path, in a low gear: at the max incline (I think 14%?) give it your all!, I got all my power badges (wahoo kickr power), no cheating…just 5 seconds build up everything… the max power you can transfer is highest at the acceleration from the lowest speed vs. highest resistance

I am 60kg and managed to push 1050 watts. There’s no way I’ll hit 1200w. Does the boost mode count towards this achievement?

For the power badges I used workout mode with workout editor and programmed in some short 5-10second sprints at the target powers. Works well with a smart trainer in ERG mode (although ground to a halt for the 1200w sprint) you don’t seem to need to maintain the power for long. Just remember to get that cadence really really high before the interval kicks in!!

Up your Zwift weight by 30kg, then try to ride up Alpe du Zwift in under an hour. There’s badges for everyone.

Hi Eric, many thanks. I have 101 badges earned out of 130 on my Zwift platform. I am missing 8 visible ones, for long routes such as 4 hoursemen, Uber Pretzel or climbing AdZ 25 times… And I am missing another 10, hidden ones, from the above list. If I get all of them, then I will have 119 badges out of 130. What are the others? I cannot figure it out.. It seems that the are another 11 ones, which are neither visible nor hidden… What are they? Thanks for any clarification.

Is there a minimum ride length for the power badges or something?

I did a quick sprint from the off, just to show my mate what my turbo set-up was like and what Zwift was, and hit the 800, 900 and 1000w achievements. I then only stayed on if for about a minute before stopping the ride (and not saving it).

The next few times I went on to Zwift, I could not see any sign of those achievements. =(

Do you get the the route badge and points if you join a group ride that is using the rubber band effect? I got invited to do a group ride on a route I need the badge for trying to decide if I will join or try to meet them out there at the scheduled time. Thanks

I completed “The Uber Pretzel” the other day in a meetup with rubber band, – and continued after the scheduled 132 km to 161 km (100 miles), – and during the ride I received more than 100 ride-ons. I received all 3 badges.

It’s the “Keep Everyone Together” feature possible in meetup events.
      Description:

Everyone stays together in this virtual no-drop ride regardless of power output. You’ll be able to draft and move around in the group without fear of being dropped unless you stop pedaling.

Such a shame that so many are watts related rather than watts per kilo. I can never hope to get any of those badges as the lowest at 800 is still more than 17 watts per kg for me. Same with the 100kmph descent, even putting out over 7 watts per kg on the radio tower descent, I can’t hit higher than 82kmph even in a group.

This just means extra credit badges only apply to men.

Five watts off the Gigabyte, 2 minutes from the Lift off and a world away from Everested. Meantime, I’ll dream on and ride on.

It appears that the high wattage extra credit badges aren’t worth any XP when you get them. My son just started Zwift and I told him to sprint to get what power badges he could, figuring it would give him easy XP. No such luck.

Just want to ask about the Warmed Up; Hothead and On Fire achievement badges – do they have to be done at the same time (eg 5 Volcano circuits in one ride) or are they cumulative (eg I can do one circuit/day to get my badges)?

They have to be done in the same ride. See https://zwiftinsider.com/volcano-circuit-badges/ for more details!

Hi Eric – two of is from SDW just worked our butts off to complete the Virtual Everesting challenge on ADZ. Extra Credit badge just says over 29,029 feet in a single activity which we did with our 8.5 reps. But no badges. Any clues? Thanks

Hi Eric, last week I participated in a race, my firts one :-)At the end I noticed that I earned 4 achievements. I.e.The Blowdrier, Premier Power, Of The Rocks and 1,21 Gigawatts. I’m pretty sure I did not ride with that much watts 🙂 (66yrs old) Is there a way to delete those achievements? I only would like to have those who I really earned

hi, I’ve got a question. Managed to actually hit the 100kph mark today at level 44 down radio hill after multiple attempts. I did not recieve the badge, so was wondering, are you supposed to hold the speed for a certain time? Any special rules? I changed to a TT bike on top of radio hill before descending. Might that have been a problem?

Any recommendations on the best downhill route to try to achieve 100 kph? Also, would it be best to set the program to 100% trainer difficulty to avoid spinning out?

Radio Tower descent with a TT bike and aero-rims, trainer difficulty set to “OFF” (0%) so you don’t spin-out on the descent, and you probably need the “Aero” power-up to make it happen, unless you’re a high-wattage rider. GPLama does a video on it if you check his channel.
