After all that, the other six should have been given the bikes they road for all their efforts.
Maybe there is backstory on the whole Zwift Academy that I’m missing but I got the impression that these teams were not all that thrilled to be gaining team members like this.
I’m guessing that Zwift is dangling a significant amount of cash in front of these teams in exchange for promoting the Academy and Zwift in general.
I can’t imagine that, left to their own devices, a team would recruit riders through a process like this. I enjoyed the series mostly but it just seemed a tad too contrived.
I’ve watched for years and the issue is never about power since they have access to that data long before any invites. It’s more about riding/handling ability and team social fit. Neither of those attributes are in any data stream obviously. They did a much better job showing the screening process for that this year than in the past. I also enjoyed how aero in terms of speed was a variable used instead of just raw power.
