Route Description

Route profile by ZwiftHub – the place to plan and track your route achievements!

Starting from the Desert pens, we turn right then left to enter Titans Grove. This rollercoaster road twists and turns you up through the redwoods, past Jarvis the unlucky bear, then up the longest climb of the route: Titans Grove KOM Reverse.

Once you top that short climb, you’ll descend the twisty road into the mysterious valley where dinosaurs are waiting to say hello.

That’s the “Jurassic” part of the route… now it’s on to the “Coast”!

Leaving Titans Grove we turn left toward Saddle Springs, then hit the roundabout and go right toward the Southern Coast. Just up the road you’ll find the first of two sprint segments on the route: Woodland Sprint! Then catch your breath and hit a few more rollers before passing Sasquatch’s hangout and hitting the Sasquatch Sprint, whose banner is the finish line for this route.

This one is lacking inspiration. It’s just a shortened version of Canopies and Shorelines.

I didn’t notice that it was a truncated version of Canopies and Shorelines. Just chop off the last 3K.

Maybe, but it is a nice little ride for a recovery day. After a long, climby ride on Saturday, this was the break that I needed. 😎

I would like to see this in reverse but starting at Jungle Pens, dropping through the jungle then along the coast line and finishing at Titans Grove KOM banner.

Alternatively, start at the AdZ pen (at the peak), descend to jungle, go left and then across the Mayan Bridge cutoff, then to the coast and finish at the Titans Grove KOM.

All right, Eric/ZI @Eric Schlange, maybe you can turn my suggestion into a rebel route. As a rebel route it would have a pretty solid lead-in! 🙂

Looks like another short point-to-point route 😭

I sympathize. I greatly prefer loops.

At least some of the recent routes were longer loops (Sugar Cookie, The Big Ring, Shorelines and Summits)

However, it seems most members prefer shorter routes. This truncated route lets them ride faster than when the route is 15% longer. 🙂

Can you ride this without being in the event?

Where are all the frightening and roaring dinosaurs? 😀 I feel they are missing along the track!

Fancy a T-rex crossing the road or a herbivore enjoying some Eucalyptus leaves.😀

@eric Schlange FYI there’s a problem with the Strava segment for this route — it starts just inside the desert pens area, so currently it’s not free-rideable.

I free rode it and matched the segment, so maybe it depends on where your spawned in the spawn zone?

On Strava, it does look like the segment starts inside the pens (off the main road).
I checked on the Strava leaderboards, I saw people on it that free road the course, though.

Good point. Easier to just backtrack for a few metres at the start than wait for an event to happen.

Strange. You’re right — such a minor difference shouldn’t matter for segment matching, but in my case I can’t seem to get my activity to match even after refreshing activity achievements in Strava. https://www.strava.com/activities/11213373251 I guess I’ll just have to join an event! 😀

I don’t think refreshing activity achievements will recalculate which segments match. I believe you have to either crop the ride (one second at the start or end) or re-upload the fit file for it do that on virtual rides.

Great that it works for you. Even greater if it worked for everyone.

Eric I just free rode the Jurassic Coast route, got credit from Zwift for completing it, but it did not match the Strava segment. Here is the ride https://www.strava.com/activities/12011838130/

I rode past about a 1/4 mile past the finish arch, so pretty sure it’s the beginning that’s causing the issue @Eric Schlange

Yeah I think you are correct. The start of the segment seems to have a small sharp bend, perhaps it starts slightly in the start pens? If he edits it now though a lot of people will lose the segment on their rides. Tough situation.

Maybe should put something in the title of the segment if it’s meant for Events only.

OK I did another free ride of this route. But this time I immediately made a U-Turn rode about a half km, then made another U-Turn and continued on the route. It matched the strava segment. So I don’t think you need to be in the pens, it’s just that some avatars spawn past the start of the segment.

Yeah, my own ride was a free ride and it matched the segment. Just a few unlucky people spawn a little too far I guess.

Hi Eric, mine isn’t matching either. Any chance you can edit the segment please and make it start from the main road rather than in the pens please. I believe this is possible within Strava.

I successfully completed the Strava segment two times, but it does not get recognized by VeloViewer somehow.
