$5k is obviously expensive but not even close to where other premium brands are. Now we obviously don’t know yet if the product can compete with Woodway and others when it comes to longevity but that’s a different issue.
And let’s be real: How many people in here have a road or tri bike for >$5k? I’m certainly not the only one. Doesn’t mean I would spend $5k on a treadmill but it’s kinda hypocritical to complain about the price of a treadmill when your bike is worth more than the car of a lot of people.

That’s a very curious response. First off, I wasn’t complaining. That was more of a shock and awe moment of a treadmill that as a business they decided that should be the price point at which to put it to market. Yes, I’ve seen how much the Woodway costs… at some point you have premium products which are simply meant as a status symbol and that’s one of them. It’s just surprising to me that wahoo thinks that they deserve a spot in that category.
Yes, I do have bikes that are more than this treadmill, but those bikes are far more complex. My bicycle is also going to be going 5,000 miles a year or more with me on a variety of surfaces, it has to deal with a variety of weather conditions, humidity, rocks, gravel, pavement, asphalt, pot holes, foreign objects, etc. This treadmill is going to see an environment which is temperature controlled and stationary along with a bunch of electronics which will age off quickly and no longer be able to be updated at some point.
Your comment about it being hypocritical to talk about a treadmill being that expensive when our bikes could be more than someones car? So in that theory, it would be hypocritical for you to complain about the price of eggs if they were $100 a dozen because your pans cost you $1K. The argument is non-sensical and delusional.
I’m sure it has it’s market, but let’s be real here as you would say. If you feel it has value at $5K then go out and buy a $5K treadmill, no one said you can’t or shouldn’t. We’re all entitled to our own opinions.

needs to be 2k MAX. even that price is borderline ripoff.
SAFETY NOTE: both Peloton models were taken off the market in 2021 due to safety issues. The Tread+ is now accepting pre-orders for reintroduction to the market.
Wahoo seems some “sanity checks” as part of their R&D that Peloton didn’t have. I expect their product will be safer than the competing Peloton products.

As a runner first, I’ll stick with my smart-bike, a gym treadmill (with Zwift runpod) and the great outdoors. $5k will pay for a lot of races.
I had connect issues with the Zwift run pod. It seemed like there could be too many other competing signals in the gym to connect for every run. It was 50-50 for me.
Tried the Stryd run pod and that always connected. Plus you don’t have to calibrate it, so it’s easier to use. Yeah, I know Stryd is 10 times more expensive though…
My gym is an old-folks gym, they look at me funny when I prop my tablet on the ‘mill, never had any issues connecting the Z-pod.
One of the attractions for me of the new Peloton Tread+ is the slat belt. Everything else equal, I prefer the features of the Kickr Run. As noted in a previous post, a Woodway or Technogym slat belt is FAR more expensive than either the Kicker Run or the Peloton Tread+. How do you all feel about running on slat belts vs regular belts?
