5 Zwift Events Not To Miss This Weekend

With more big events than ever happening in our virtual cycling paradise, it’s easy to miss some really cool rides! Here are 5+ events this weekend that you won’t want to miss.

See you on course!

Israel Start-Up Nation Medical Aid Ride

The primary purpose of this ride is to raise funds to secure N95 masks for hospitals in need. One Zwifter counts for one mask! The more people who join, the bigger the donation will be. Tell your friends, and ride for a good cause.

Pro cyclists Alex Dowsett, Dan Martin, and Andre Greipel will each lead separate groups at different paces, so everyone can find a group for their fitness level.

Movistar Team Innsbruck UCI Worlds Ride with Alejandro Valverde

Join legendary pro cyclist Alejandro Valverde of the Movistar Team and relive his 2018 UCI Road World Championship win in Innsbruck!

This is a social ride with a climbing challenge at the end. All riders should cruise at a social pace for 30km allowing time for Q&A with Alejandro. At the base of the Innsbruck KOM climb, the group will be let loose to climb to the finish 7.5km away.

Newbury Velo Weekend TT

Newbury Velo’s weekend TT events have become popular quite quickly. It’s a short TT (around 10 miles), so you can do it as part of a longer Saturday if you’d like. No marshalls, no signup fee. Just sign up and show up before your start time (which you get when you sign up, in Zwift Companion). Drafting is disabled, and TT bikes aren’t required – but they are recommended!

See our Fastest TT Frames and Fastest Wheels post to get your TT race rig set up and slippery!

Note: the event is currently limited to 500 riders, so sign up quick! (Race organizers tell me this is a Zwift event setting issue which will hopefully be changed starting next weekend.)

Long Group Rides

Weekends are traditional times for long rides, and it’s no different on Zwift! Why not hop into a big group ride this weekend? Here are several which vary in length from a metric century to an imperial. Be sure to click and read pace details and other info – you don’t want to join a long ride that doesn’t meet your needs/abilities!

Long Races

Doing a long ride is one thing. But what about pushing max effort during a long ride – doing a long race? Here are four long races scheduled for the weekend:

Gutted that this event is already full. Can’t believe it can only handle 500 entries.

what about SAS 200km on sunday 6:00 CET . isn’t it a long ride?

Thanks for the BMTR Fundo mention Eric. Actually there are 4 distances – 21 to 76 miles – to choose from all starting together at 8:10am EDT. While not officially classified as a race, many choose to ride it that way while others are making it their primary goal to finish the distance. Last week’s Fundo had 1,197 participants – not signups – so plenty of other riders to group up with along the way no matter what speed someone is going! – Paul Zucker, BMTR Events Director

Think you need to be more generous about your definition of weekend. 1. Was 11:30pm Friday in UK so weekend for a lot of the planet, and weekend for almost everyone who starts their weekend on Friday night. 2. Was 7am Saturday in UK – thus weekend for almost everyone!

Hi Eric, the Newbury TT last Wednesday was my first TT on Zwift and it was great! The intermediate timings for Tempus Fugit TT are however not visible on Strava. Is it possible for you (with your Strava connections) to add these intermediate segments? Would also be great if you participate and write a TT race report.

Isn’t the Movistar Ride with Alejandro Valverde at 04:00EDT? At least, that is what it looks like on Zwift Companion.

Hey! Thanks for the article, very useful!
I’m thinking of signing up for UKZwifters 100km Endurance Ride But I am confused by the route, it says it’s flat route reverse which is only a few miles long so will we just be doing laps of it? Just trying to brace myself if that is the case!
thanks!

ye, it will just be laps. I do this event quite regulalry. It isn’t a group ride in the sense that everyone stays together. You just find a group that rides your pace and stick with it. Some some groups will fly off the front, some will hang off the back. But it is a really good event, bit like one of the zwift fondos. Find the group that is riding your pace and have fun.

Question. On the 3RAlpe du Zwift ride/race – Is the spiny wheel at the Top Unabled? On March 29 we did it but never got the spinner at the Top. Just curious so we will know for the future. It was the first time we never got the spinning wheel at the top. Thanks…Two fans from 😁🇨🇦🇨🇦
