Well, was it worth the wait? Yumezi has landed – the first new map, and the first new world in Zwift , for quite some time. Eagerly-awaited, much-delayed but now finally here, what does the community make of the new tarmac with a strongly Eastern flavour?
The Zwiftcast abandons its usual format for a special episode soliciting opinion on probably the most beautiful world yet to be released by Zwift.
Simon, Shane and Eric Schlange from the Zwift Insider have their say, but perhaps more importantly the Zwiftcast flies around the world to hear from prominent members of the Zwift community on their reaction to Yumezi.
We also speculate on how the Makuri Islands might develop in the future.
We hope you enjoy listening.
This was unsavoury propaganda. I listen to all the episodes, but couldn’t stomach this one very long. Makes one wonder why Nathan wasn’t on it.
Hi Dave, it’s Simon here. I can’t help feeling your comment is a little harsh. The episode reflected community reaction, which has been overwhelmingly positive. Thanks Fossegrimen. That’s a thoughtful, balanced comment and I genuinely appreciate the feedback. There was a degree of repetition, I freely concede, but in the end there’s only so many ways Zwifters could say “I like the new map.” That said, your comments definitely give me food for thought.
Thank you for addressing the matter of Nathan’s absence. I take your word for it. But I must disagree that this is a reflection of the community reaction. I am a member of the Zwift community. I’m in Facebook groups and a very active race team Discord server. My assessment of the reaction is mostly indifference, mingled with some meek positivity, irritation and disappointment. And the positivity is mostly in the form of optimism that this will one day be a bigger map that will include the Tokyo course and other routes.
Agreed David! Couldn’t stomach more than a few minutes of this snoozefest. Bring back Nathan!
