Zwift has just released the schedule of events for March’s big fondo happening this Sunday. With thousands of riders turning out, these “fun races” are always popular as we push ourselves to complete long courses together. Plus, you unlock a jersey when you complete the ride!
Schedule
- March 1: 12AM PST/8AM GMT
- March 1: 2AM PST/10AM GMT
- March 1: 6AM PST/2PM GMT
- March 1: 9AM PST/5PM GMT
- March 1: 11AM PST/7PM GMT
Is this a Race?
Officially, no. For some riders, just completing the ride is accomplishment enough. But many riders will treat the event as a race, and only the strongest riders will be able to stay near the front of each event.
As Zwift says, in the end “It’s all about doing your best and trying to finish the toughest routes in Watopia.”
Routes
Zwift Fondo events have three categories (A, B, and C) which are open to all riders. These categories don’t refer to rider strength or speed–they refer to route length. Pick the category corresponding to the length of route you’d like to ride.
For March, the group and routes are (click for route details):
Kit Unlocks
This is a 3-month series, and each month’s fondo has its own unique kit unlock. These kits are exclusive, meaning they will never be available anywhere else in game. A true badge of honor! Here’s a shot of March’s kit:

Why aren’t these ever available when more people can do them, i.e. not only early in the morning? How about adding some more options later in the day. (I live in Maryland which has EST)
Agreed, the times are horrible for riders on the east coast. Tour of Innsbruck was the same, no evening start times for eastern North America.
This is very frustrating that they seem unwilling to have more times to complete this event and earn the jersey.
100% Agree. Zwift has the data on when riders are active. I’m surprised there aren’t more spread out opportunities for these events.
Everyone is on west coast time haha
will we unlock any route badges doing this fondo?
There aren’t route badges for the fondo routes, since they’re event-only routes.
Thanks for clarifying Eric!
For the 2021 Fondo Series can we get 1 or 2 of these rides made available on a Saturday (MST)? I would really like to participate in this series but am unable to due to commitments on Sundays. I believe 1 or 2 of the events for the February ride in 2019 ended up being on a Saturday and I was able to do it. Please please please! Tell someone at Zwift…. 🙂
Keep up the good work. Ride On!
