Zwift Update Version 1.60 (127000) Released

Zwift version 1.60 begins its phased rollout today. It’s a minor update with a small Player Highlight upgrade and some priority bug fixes. See details below…

Ride On Bombs + Player Highlight

The new Player Highlight feature was released in the previous update, and today’s release expands the feature to include Ride On bomb highlighting.

Now when you send a Ride On bomb (by pressing the Z-button on Zwift Play or tapping on the Zwift Companion map) the riders receiving Ride Ons from your bomb are temporarily highlighted and an animation shows your bomb dropping.

Here’s what it looks like:

Coffee Stop Fixed

The previous update caused some Coffee Stop bugs which made it so riders weren’t able to take Coffee Stops in certain situations. As cyclists, of course the Zwift community rose up in arms against such an injustice, so we’re happy to announce that Zwift reports today’s update should fix any Coffee Stop bugs.

Apple Watch Rollback

The release notes say “Reverted recent Apple Watch updates to address connectivity issues.” Apple Watch users have told us that the previous update seemed to break Watch connectivity with the game, so it’s good to see Zwift has rolled back the latest updates so Watch users can get heart rate into the game and Apple Health.

More Release Notes

Zwift provided notes on additional tweaks and bug fixes in this update:

  • The Ride Streak screen now automatically closes itself after a period of time. If you’d like to keep the screen open longer, touch or click anywhere to cancel the timer.
  • Fixed an issue where routes with minimum level requirements were not correctly locked in the Route selection screen.
  • Fixed an issue that could potentially award The Big Ring route badge after completing a different route.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause some rocks to flicker in Watopia.
  • Internal changes made to reduce the likelihood of red squares issues.

How about Tron color “memory” and the full range of colors displayed on the slider?

People have been asking for this for years, so I’d say….no 🙂

You’d think including the color red would be pretty simple for a game in 2024, but I guess not.

Honestly, does it really matter? It’s an avatar

I don’t see that big of a difference between customizing an avatar in an online environment and making the decisions you do for IRL riding. It gives you an opportunity to choose bike, clothing, etc., based on things you like and how you want to present yourself. If avatars didn’t matter to people, Zwift probably wouldn’t offer kit and bike unlocks as some of the biggest incentives for events, races, etc. Is having an accurate color of red a big deal? Not really, but how hard could it be? 😄

Hi Eric: Will you take a question totally off topic? Where is the best resource to learn about the current parameters for Pace Partner Rides, and by parameters I mean the allowable distance from the pace partner fence, time allowed outside the fence, time allowed once warned to catch up or slow down, XP multipliers scale by minutes, etc.

Might be a coincidence, but yesterday was the first day this year that the program didn’t crash after ending the ride (on the streak screen usually). And also the first time that it uploaded a video clip to Strava! Hooray!

Maybe somewhat related, wasn’t there a way to set the camera view to rotate constantly through the angles? Thanks

When will we ever get a Sprint Start banner overhead, as you only see the start line when you are on it. Too late.

Keep an eye on the map – the kerbs change colour when you’re in a sprint or KoM sector. Granted, not as good as a banner but might be of use.

Looks like the Repack Rush badge has been moved to the Extra Credit section, which seems fair given it needs steering.

New ride on bombs reach is poor and random. This feature used to be fun and it used to work well. Congratulations Zwift for making me not want to give ride ons anymore.

While recent updates such as the ride-on bomb and workout colour changes are appreciated, there’s a pressing need for more substantial enhancements that truly benefit users. For me, it’s crucial the decision-makers prioritise updates based on genuine user benefits, rather than opting for what might seem like quick wins.

Here’s just a few I’d love to see implemented:

Customizable HUD: Offering a fully customisable heads-up display (HUD) would empower users to tailor their interface to their specific preferences and requirements, catering to different ride types such as group rides, pace partners, TTT, and ZRL racing (points).

Enhanced Route Profile: Introducing a larger, clearer, and coloured route profile with segment data would provide riders with valuable insights during their journeys.

Group Functionality: Implementing group features would encourage social interaction and community building within the platform. Additionally, incorporating the ability to block individuals based on behaviours can help mitigate toxicity. It would be beneficial to filter users based on age groups, gender, etc., to ensure a safe environment free from negative interactions that many face regularly. I can’t think of any other platform that operates in such a way with almost impunity.

Draft and CDA Indicators: Providing draft and coefficient of drag (CDA) indicators would give users valuable feedback, enabling them to optimise their performance and strategic tactics.

Gear Indicators: Including gear indicators for all smart trainers and bikes would heighten the realism and immersion of virtual rides without using secondary applications.

Custom Club Kit Design: Allowing users to design their own club kit would inject a personal touch and enhance a stronger sense of community identity.

Despite being a leader in its field, there’s always room for improvement. It’s remarkable how solo developers, such as Sauce for Zwift, can sometimes outshine larger companies in certain aspects. Let’s hope the development team takes these suggestions into account for future updates. Undoubtedly, there are countless other features that users could suggest to further enhance the platform and may be in the pipeline that we don’t know about.

Ride on!

Agreed. I’d pay extra for a button that lets you exit Zwift in less than 10 presses and 5 minutes.

Morning Eric… Since we are Talking about Up-Dates…While Scrolling through the ZWIFT Time Line Graph today. I was looking at my DATA from a Race that I did, and was looking at my Power Files. It would be a nice Feature if ZWIFT could allow You to High Light a Segment of the Time Line to see what Your average Power/Heart/Cadence/Speed etc was for that Segment. I was on that Rivet before I got Dropped, and it would be nice to see what My Power was for that Segment before I popped, and shut it down 😥… Thoughts? Or does this already exist, and I’m just missing it? Thank you… 😀

How about an update that disables putting numbers in your user name. So male baby boomers can’t display their age with it.

I haven’t read any updates on Zwift’s revamp of the CE system. Zwift did release a test version about a year ago but soon pulled it for refinement. Any updates? We need it.
