The latest Zwift update has been announced and will be released in phases over the next few days.
In contrast to recent updates, this release doesn’t include any fun new headline features – just a lot of bug fixes and small “quality of life” improvements.
Release Notes
Here are the tweaks and bug fixes Zwift provided for this update, with notes from us in italics:
- Sections of the road in Watopia should now appear seamless, without gaps or texture issues.
- Mega Pretzel lap arch moved to correct finish of route. We’re not sure what this means, but we’ve got a bot riding the Meta Pretzel right now to find out!
- Cyclists using Wattbike Atom smart bikes will now see their selected gear displayed in Workouts during Free Ride blocks.
- Climb Portal routes are now more clearly identified in Route cards and saved activities.
- Zwift Play: Giving Ride-On bombs (by pressing and holding the Z-button) no longer plays the “Ride On” sound effect. Riiiiiide on!
- Teleport: The Friends list now shows average w/kg. Nice little tweak, so you can see your friend’s pace before joining.
- Fixed an issue where, in some situations, the Zwifters Nearby list would show your name at the top of the list and riders ahead of you were not visible. Hopefully this is finally fixed, as it’s been an issue for several weeks.
- Fixed an issue with Offroad Steering Sensitivity slider not saving after an adjustment.
- Fixed an issue where the running split time may be displayed on the Login screen after completing a run.
- Fixed cosmetic issues with the Pause Menu user interface.
- Fixed an issue where riders would be positioned at the side of the road without steering input when paired with a steering device
- Corrected the phenomenon where some portions of Climb Portal routes would appear black (instead of their gradient color) on some Apple devices.
- Fixed an issue where messages sent via Zwift Companion may not be visible to others while riding Climb Portal.
- Fixed an issue where U-turns may not function properly after completing an Event ride.
- Fixed an issue where cyclists may briefly swerve on some routes.
- Fixed an issue where in-game graphs could not be toggled during workouts.
- Fixed an issue where camera views would continually cycle in an Event paddock after manually selecting a camera view.
- Fixed an issue where canceling the Confirm Teleport prompt in Zwift Companion did not close the corresponding prompt in Zwift.
- Climb Portal roads have been adjusted so it is no longer possible to slightly ride off the edge of the visible road.
- Pair with Phone: Fixed an issue where devices may not be discoverable if Zwift Companion is restarted during a ride.
- Fixed game crashes that could occur when loading into a route or joining an Event in another world.
- Zwift Play: Various improvements to in-game navigation and connection reliability.
- Various improvements to game visuals, animations, game performance, and stability. Rumor has it that the swerving rider bug with steering has been fixed in today’s update.
- PC & Mac
- Zwift game launcher updated to v1.1.9, which improves game update reliability.
- Fixed an issue where the Save button on the End Activity screen would flicker enthusiastically when hovered over.
- PC
- AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT GPUs now have the Ultra graphics profile enabled.
- iOS, tvOS
- Fixed a visual issue that affected the nameplates of nearby riders.
- tvOS
- Fixed an issue where the Ride Report “Highlights” section could not be navigated via Apple TV remotes.
- Android
- Fixed a crash for Zwifters that would sometimes happen when switching to a new world after an event.

I sure hope the Play connection stability has improved as they say in this latest update. After dropouts from one of the controllers in a race (both always charged the same amount of time at the same time, so it’s not a battery charge issue, just one randomly drops some rides) left me out of the draft and all the way to one side of the road with no way to get back into the draft or even the midline through turns in more than one race, I’ve been riding on other platforms as I just can’t be bothered to… Read more »
Agree. I keep having connection issues and think.. I’ll just give it one last chance.. And it keeps letting me down. So much so that I’ve now removed them from my bike which is not what I wanted to pay £100 for. I know they were released as beta but if I can’t actually use them I’m going to be sending them back if it’s not massively improved soon.
Same here, given up using them, waste of a £100
no issues with mine. fingers crossed
I hope it stays that way for you. I don’t understand how I have connection issues when using the Companion app to bridge and the phone is right between the 2 play controllers (less than 22 cm away on my 44 cm bars), especially since, when updating the firmware, it has no problem connecting to the app.
Same here. I had dropout issues with the left controller but the 2nd update seems to have fixed it. No problems since. I think that it has enhanced the regular riding I do. (Free rides, group rides, and Pacer Bots.) I don’t race, just can’t seem to get into that.
Same issues. Too many dropouts. Sent them back already. Good idea, but not ready for Prime Time roll-out.
Had the same problems when pairing them through my phone. I now bought an extra bluetooth dongle for my pc (Since I run Zwift on my pc) and connect them through that and it works like it should. No more connections lost at all.
I’m intrigued by that. Do you tell your computer which Bluetooth connection to use? My PC has a bluetooth connection on the motherboard, but my PC is along way away from my setup (and doesn’t seem to like connecting to more than 2-3 things at a time). I’ve been wondering if a new Bluetooth dongle right next to my trainer (like my ANT+ dongle) that could handle more connections would fix some of my issues (and keep me from having to use the Companion App as a bridge). Don’t know how that all works though.
I fixed all my connections issues with my right one keeping it wired to a charger (my pc usb). Everything whent really well since it.
Just wish they change the Font Colour to black, instead of white, for the Yellow RoboPacers.
Had an issue today. A friend was on same route as me . But she was not in the join a friend list .also still not able to scroll down to large window after race / work out on summary screen ( ATV) . Hope these are in the fix .. thanks.
post it at zwift forums. thats the official place
I was wondering how long it’d take to fix the climb portal so you couldn’t steer off the side- glad they caught that one quick! Or add a falling off animation and some guy on a cloud come and picks you up…takes three coins…
Lol, falling off the side could trigger a team car and bike replacement animation that slows your time down due to stopping for it 🤣
Blue flames all the way
Wow. That’s a lot of potatoes. Thanks, code jockeys.
That “Nearby Riders” list issue of positioning you at or off the top of it has been annoying the crap out of me, fingers crossed the fix works properly! Also the weird rider swerves you get as you go over various sections of road has been a long long time in the fixing, I always assumed it was to do with linking up of sections of programmed Road but whatever it was it’ll be nice if that’s now just a memory
Wonder if that fix also cures the issue on the Scotland map where Riders Nearby showed riders in both directions.
Showing riders in both directions can happen on all maps I think
Can and does occasionally, I agree, but it’s endemic on the Scotland map.
Interesting how the whinage about lack of development has almost disappeared since Zwifts reorg happened and we got more proactive combination and more frequent smaller patches.
*more proactive communication*
I get that bike choice doesn’t matter for the average rider, but has zwift abandoned adding new frames? I probably wouldn’t have gotten them but it seems odd.
Very happy to see they fixed the iOS bug with other riders nameplates. That made riding in larger groups almost impossible because all you saw was black fragments.
Hopefully one of these updates will have new frames and wheels as part of the drop.
Having trouble load zwift on computer Bluetooth and companion won’t allow me to login to companion and sometimes Bluetooth have just recently happening
I made a session of 1 hour and 40 minutes with the new update and the connection issues with Zwift Paly seems solved! Zwift Play connected via BT direct on my laptop, in the past days the only way to use Zwift Play was via Companion App, but for me is not an option. The other devices are connected via ANT+ with a dedicated dongle.
No dropouts and all work perfectly now. Sure, i will try again in the next days.
Also Zwiftalizer says no disconnects at all.
I hope that the problem is definitely solved.
So Thursday this week July 20th Zwift auto updated (windows pc) from version 1.43 to version 1.44. Today Saturday July 22nd I opened Zwift – another update and I am now back to 1.43.3???
What is going on??? Any ideas?
Zwift is rolling back the PC release due to some bugs, I hear…
That’s a good thing to roll back. Keeping moving forward with new bugs is not sustainable!

Not an issue with the latest release but been dealing with an issue where my garage shows new items available. When i go to the garage there are no new items, just the badges showing new items available. It only shows the new items on the Zwift Wheels. I am on PC and have re-installed the app several times with no luck. More than likely just me, but really annoying and support has not been able to provide a fix.
There’s nothing worse than an enthusiastic flicker.
Did something go particularly pear shaped with this update? Just noticed I still don’t have the current version over a week down the line. Perhaps just a very slow rollout…
I stopped Zwift for serval month to ride outside, come back and install the latest updates.
So, now I have to Login every time I start Zwift…
THIS IS SHIT!!!!!
Ride ons not working with ATV. Waves and elbows work, but not thumbs up.
Also, is there an article covering the new pack dynamics? I saw lots of chatter about it during the event I did yesterday.
Thanks
Hi, The default avatar position won’t go back to the right position after going on fan view or after clicking on the nearby zwifters list. I can’t see the whole of the rear wheel, so i would not be able to see the fire socks for example. I have also found, since we have had video screenshots, that there is a problem with lagging. It isn’t as bad if I lower the screen resolution, which obviously isn’t good. I get no lagging if I disable video screenshots. Apart from those niggles everything is perfect, keep up the good work. Thanks,… Read more »
