“Three Sisters” Route Details (Watopia)

Animated “Three Sisters” Route Details (Watopia) Map
Animated map provided by ZwiftHacks

The “Three Sisters” route covers Watopia’s three oldest climbs (Hilly KOM, Epic KOM, and Volcano KOM) in a forward direction. While not as punishing as The Pretzel and some of Watopia’s toughest routes, it’ll still put you in the hurt locker with almost 3000′ of climbing!

Route Description

Route profile by ZwiftHub – the place to plan and track your route achievements!

Begin at the standard downtown Watopia start point, and head directly up the Hilly KOM forward. This short climb was the first timed KOM segment on Watopia, but it’s far from the toughest!

Catch a breather descending from the Hilly KOM banner, then hang a left onto Ocean Boulevard and a right at Sequoia Circle to make your way onto the longest climb of the route: the Epic KOM forward. This was the longest climb in all of Zwift when it was released, but it is now dwarfed by Alpe du Zwift. Don’t underestimate the Epic KOM, though: it’s got plenty of suffering in store, and the super steep “bonus climb” up to the radio tower just adds insult to injury!

Whats the difference between the “Three Sisters” and
“Three Sisters Forward from Start Pier” segments? I noticed that I got credit for the latter, but not the former… even though I did the official route in Zwift and got the achievement. Any ideas?

I selected the Three Sisters route but the turns did not match your description and I ended up doing it in reverse. The Epic KOM banner was after the turn to the radio antenna (which I rode up) which meant I didn’t get credit for the Epic KOM. It’s not important to me, but just not understanding routes very well.
If I select a route in game, then do all of the default turns follow that route? It didn’t seem like they did.

I should add, it didn’t start in Downtown.

The Radio Tower portion of the climb is ~1.1km (0.68mi) at 13.7%.

Any good idea for an ideal bike/wheel setup for a level 23?

The Specialized Tarmac Pro (not the same as Specialized Tarmac) and the Enve SES 3.4 unless you have unlocked the Meilenstein LIghtweight by going up the Alpe du Zwift and being fortunate enough to have the spinner land on them. That is the only way to get those wheels. If you want to save Drops, you can buy the Cannondale EVO which it tied with the Tarmac Pro for best climber.

I would choose the Specialized Tarmac Pro with DT Swiss ARC 1100 Dicut 62 as the DT Swiss performe almost identical compared to the Enve SES 3.4 in climbs but outperforme those in flats.

Old news. The Canondale is now lighter than the Specialized Tarmac Pro, after zwift changing the weight and attributes of the latter.

I put the ENVE SES 3.4’s on the Emonda.

This route isn’t getting much attention so far as Stage 5 of the Tour of Watopia. As a big guy I am not fond of big climbs unless there is a reward! So for the 2x and the route bonus I decided to ride it. I would have rather had Road to Sky as an option for the chance of the Lightweight wheels. But I only have one X chromosome! 🙂

Does the Tron Bike not compensate for the worse time upwards, with a faster time downwards, compared to, for example, the Cannondale EVO and The Lightweight Meilenstein wheels?

Completed the route in ToW Wednesday and not seeing the segment from start pens in Strava. Do I need to refresh my history somehow to see my time count?

The ToW course is Three Little Sisters vs. Three Sisters. Three Little Sisters doesn’t have the Epic KOM climb in the route.

Will the Tron bike do or should I go for a climbing frame and light wheels? Evo and DT wheels? There is some flat in the course.

This is stage 5 of the 2023 TdZ. I think I’m going to go with the Scott Addict with Roval Alpinist and then bike swap for the Tron at the top of the Radio Tower.
All that said, how does one use the BestBikeSplit Model site that all the routes now link to? I tried to mess around with it a bit, but didn’t have the time to dig in.

Appears the long ride for TdZ Stage 6 won’t officially qualify as it doesn’t go through the downtown banner to start.
