Route Description

Route profile by ZwiftHub – the place to plan and track your route achievements!
Begin in the Jungle start pens and turn left out of the pens to head toward Watopia proper. At the first intersection, just 1 kilometer into your ride, you’ll turn right to head up the Epic KOM Reverse. It’s time to climb!
You’ve got 5km of climbing ahead at an average gradient of 5.9%, but be prepared for steeper pitches. This climb has two short downhill bits in the middle, plus a flat finish, so the climbing portions average closer to 10%.
There are 8 hairpin turns on this portion of the Epic KOM Reverse, so count ’em as you go and pace yourself for a strong finish. See you at the top!

Wouldn’t this be a right turn? “At the first intersection, just 1 kilometer into your ride, you’ll turn left to head up the Epic KOM Reverse.”
Oops, you’re right! Fixed.
now we’re talking! =) properly warmed up, this could be Epic! (pun indeed intended) ^^
Great route for warming up. Simply turn left at the initial intersection and you’ll get a couple of descending kilometres then teleport to your pace partner of choice.
Shouldn’t this be Monster Mash? 😁
“it caught on in a flash”
The only new route with a badge?
No, all the new routes have badges (and an XP bonus).
I don’t think this route is new to a lot of people who just flip a u-turn at the start of a road to sky route lol
We could call it the “Road to Sky Wimpout”.
So is this the first 8 turns of ADZ? I am struggling to picture it!
No. It’s the main climb of the Epic KOM Reverse.
So the big question is, given that the /last/ batch of new routes still isn’t available for free-riding for riders to get the badges, how the heck are category A and B riders supposed to get this badge considering it’s (a) event only, and (b) restricted to C and D category? My badge-completion OCD is on fire over here!!
Exactly my thought, I can’t get this route badge as I’m cat B and therefore cannot enter lower category events.
It’ll be free rideable in April.
I love how it says “Bring a lightweight climbing bike!”, but the picture is of a rider on the Venge with Disc wheels!😂
I’m doing this in an hour and riding the Atomic bike with Tri-spoke wheels. The absolute slowest combination in the game. 😀 Lucky this is a “bike neutralized” ride.
Lame that it isn’t open to a/b for route completion!
does the bike choice matter in zwift games? I was thinking of rocking the handcycle for this route
Hi Guys, is this route only available for C or D Class Riders? I want to ride it but can’t find an event where I can join 🙁
Yes. Zwift will make it free rideable soon, but for now it’s event only.
I rode Mountain Mash today and took the Bonus Climb to the Radio Tower. I have done many of the climbs in the Climb Portal, but nothing beats the scenery of a “real” Zwift climb. 😎
I climbed the Mountain Mash. At the end I went up the Bonus Climb to the Radio Tower. It was a nice effort…BUT I didn’t get the MM Badge. Looks like I “cheated” myself out of the badge. Do I have to do the MM climb again?
If you went up the radio tower then you turned before hitting the epic kom banner finish. You gotta go through that banner to get the badge. After that if you want to do the radio tower then you can do a u turn and then do the turn to go up the radio tower.
Tim, thanks. I thought that was the reason. But I saw the “Bonus Climb” road sign and I was attracted to it like a moth attracted to a light. Oh well, I will just have to do MM again. Thanks again.
OK, today I went back to do the Mountain Mash, resisted the temptation to do the Bonus Climb and finally got the MM Badge. 👍
This is a really nice ride for a rider like myself that is in the ~2 W/kg range, wants to get some climb credit for challenges, and cannot sustain a long, hard ride. I cannot sit in my saddle for more than 45 minutes.
It is about half an hour and 3.5 miles up the mountain, but then you get a long, gradual decent with some smaller hills. At the 10 mile mark, it is ~45 minutes and 1260′ of elevation. And the last 6.5 miles are some of the easiest that you will do. Just take the default turns presented.
Can’t figure out why but the Zwifterbike estimates for this route seem to be quite a bit off. It was a nice surprise to finish it 1:15 faster than it predicted, though!
Didn’t realise when I did the route that it doesn’t include all of Epic KOM reverse ascent, therefore you dont get a full Epic KOM reverse segment time, only for the segment from the jungle junction. Oh well, glad it was route of the week this week.
