GCN Four-Week Challenge Announced

GCN Host Simon Richardson has taken up a new challenge: can he get fitter despite this new reality of working from home and social distancing? And will he come out ahead of the competition, as other GCN presenters are throwing down to see who makes the biggest quarantine leap?

Zwifters are invited to train with Si and other GCN hosts on group workouts for the next four weeks. Join in to build overall fitness, or target improving your Epic KOM time like the GCN hosts. Here’s Simon’s intro video:

Four Weeks Of Fitness | Si's Isolation Challenge

The series was assembled by Zwift Performance Consultant Kev Poulton and involves a mix of workouts grabbed from various Zwift training plans, with a Wednesday race to test our limits and a free ride to get in some climbing.

Two different group workouts will be offered each week (Tuesdays and Fridays), and the rides will be led in different timezones by GCN presenters from the UK, Spain, Japan, Italy, Germany, and France.

Follow Simon’s progress by tuning into GCN on YouTube.

Ok, ok. The first attempt was done on a Fool’s day, on April 1 when Zwift was making fun of Zwifters by providing 1989 environment and bike equipment not eligible for PR on any KOMs. Probably you would get new PR already on the next day, just by changing the bike…

The first paragraph states “despite this new reality of working from home and social distancing”. I would have thought that assuming people are dedicated then working from home will be the perfect opportunity to improve your fitness, not see a drop in it.

I say this as we all only get a certain amount of time to train each day due to other commitments. One huge drain on peoples time and energy is the daily commute to/from work. By working from home I am getting a lot more free time and my legs are a lot fresher, both of these mean I’m able to train more and train harder.

The article says, “Complete any of the GCN presenter-led workouts to score the in-game GCN kit!” is this a different kit then the one you can get by using this code? GOGCN

Will you get to keep your old GCN kit too? (Which I like) Or will it override your previous GCN kit slot? Just curious…not a complaint.

Hi, just completed the GCN workout three but there was no erg? I use the companion app forward select the event, get on the bike about 10mins before the event and then select the join event option…this should’ve then put my trainer into erg mode for the event Shouldn’t it? If this happens again how do I get it into erg mode whilst riding? Cheers, Oldstuntmonkey🤙

The one after that is number 7 – VO2 max development

Although it could be that its a typo and 6 & 7 are the same workout – Vo2 max and there should only be two workouts in week three. I did all three just in case :-p
