“Rolling Highlands” Route Details (Scotland)
This rolling figure-8 route is rarely flat, but always scenic! It covers the same roads as Loch Loop, but a little extra stretch of tarmac through the Loch near Breakaway Brae.

Route Description

Route profile by ZwiftHub – the place to plan and track your route achievements!
The route begins with a long lead-in from the country paddocks, taking you down along the Cliffs, through the mystical roundabout and up Breakaway Brae to the official start/finish inside the Tower.
(The roundabout looks quite ordinary by day, but visit at night for some eye-popping magic!)
From the tower start line you’ll be making a figure 8 of the countryside roads. Begin by descending the other side of Breakaway Brae, then turning left to take the Loch cutoff road and riding back the way you came on the lead-in.
You’ll continue past the starting paddocks onto “the postcard” section of the loop with its huge vistas, before corkscrewing up through the castle and taking the Loch cutoff once more. Wave hello to Nessie, then hit the Breakaway Brae KOM hard to finish!
Any bike reccomend yet? I’m assuming an all-rounder with that climbing so the Dogma F seems fair.
Did you actually read the article? “Go with the most aero road bike in your garage.”
When I commented there was no recommendation so thanks.
I Think the Cervélo S5 (new) with DT Swiss ARC 1100 is the best one for this one
Wow you’re friendly
The most aero bikes may be far too heavy for the KQOM. D.eadpool has a proper question given the name of the route has the word “rolling”. the quickest all rounder that you have with light wheels for roads is the best bet. This is short, but sneaky. Ignore Steven who clearly is having a rough life.

Deadpool, I always go with Scott Addict and DT Swiss non-disc on this route as the times I need the most help is on the climbs and rollers when people are pushing the hardest. Plus this route finishes on the KOM climb. This setup is still quite aero but much lighter than the top aero setups.
This has to be one of the most, uniquely designed courses they’ve came up with so far.
5.1Km lead-in, just to turn around and go back the way you started, then past the start and head to where you turned around?
Why not turn out of the pens going the other direction? seems to make so much more sense.
LOL. Why do think it should make sense?
Think that Breakaway Brae will be a “sprint” segment for the final ZRL race?
Currently, WTRL doesn’t list any FAL/FTS, but it could just be because they haven’t updated it yet.
The FAL/FTS are listed now. 4 Breakaway Brae for each FAL and FTS for A and B cat (3 for C and D).
I can’t figure out for the life of me why the don’t do the lead-in from the other direction. Then it’d be just a continuation of the loop for the first lap and beyond similar to how lead-ins work for pretty much every other course. I think the lead-in might actually be a bit shorter (though more climbing) if they did it the way I describe (turn right out of the pens rather than left) I know that there are no serious climbs (and lots of time spent descending down the rolling hills), but going with my most aero setup… Read more »
I think they wanted the longer lead in so that you can do a 1 lap race at 14km — Which is better than 9 or 10km.
Loved the route, can’t wait for free release!……it’s the first Z world where I’ve actually got a mental map and don’t just blindly follow!……
Please bring back the old side view elevation chart.

I hope Eric or someone else from ZI sees this – but I can’t tell you how many times it’s happened to me when I’m in a hurry and in a warm-up prior to a race or something and I pull up the route on ZI to get a refresher on the route and just as I’m watching the animation the pop-up for joining the newsletter pops right on top of the screen blocking the animation – even though I’ve already subscribed and have clicked that box multiple times that says “Don’t ask again”. Ugh! Any possible fix for that??… Read more »
