All About Rhino Racing’s 2upTT: On-Demand 2-Person Time Trialing

It’s been over a year and a half since we shared news of Rhino Racing’s new 2upTT race format. Since then, the innovative on-demand 2-person TT format has continued to grow, while the web tools supporting the format have also improved. I caught up with Rhino Racing‘s Peter Kilby to learn how it’s all working, and how others can join in.

What is Rhino Racing’s 2upTT?

At its core, it’s a two‑rider time trial. You find a partner, pick your moment, and try to set the fastest possible time on a route that changes each month. Terrain varies deliberately from round to round, giving climbers, rouleurs, and flat‑land specialists all a chance to shine.

When can I race?

Each round runs for a full week, beginning on the first Saturday of the month. Registration opens the Saturday before. Unlike traditional events, you choose exactly when you race: the system generates a private event link for you and your partner based on the slot you select.

Registration for Round 14 just opened. Riders are racing 1 lap of Makuri Islands’ Kaze Kicker (17.3km, 140m).

Who is it for?

The event is open to everyone. Categories follow the vELO system from zracing.app, and results are published separately for Female, Mixed, and Male pairs. All results can be filtered by category, pairing type, and club, making it easy to compare performances across the field.

How do I register?

Simply head to the Registration page on the Rhino Racing 2upTT website, select your preferred day and time, and complete the sign-up process. You’ll receive a private event link to share with your teammate.

Where can I find results?

Results are posted on the website and can be filtered in multiple ways. A rolling league is also active, based on your most recent three months of performances — so consistency matters.

Why race a 2‑person TT?

A two‑rider time trial is one of the purest tests of teamwork on Zwift. There’s no pack to hide in and no chance of dropping your partner. You work together, you suffer together, and you chase the fastest possible time. TT bikes are enabled and draft is active, adding another tactical layer to pacing and rotation.
