Zwift Update Version 1.123 (166757) Released

Zwift version 1.123 begins its phased rollout today. This major update adds lots of fast TT frames and wheelsets to the Drop Shop. Read on for details!

The Kona Drop: New TT Frames and Disc Wheels

Today’s update sees more frames and wheels added to the Drop Shop than any day in Zwift’s history. We’ve got 7 brand-new TT frames, 3 updated frames, 3 brand-new disc wheelsets, and 2 updated disc wheelsets:

New Disc Wheelsets:

Updated Disc Wheelsets:

Additionally, the following TT frames have been removed from the Drop Shop:

Of course, the big question is: how fast are the new frames and wheelsets? The answer: very. Most of the new frames are faster than the CADEX Tri (formerly the fastest TT frame). And all of the new/updated disc wheelsets are faster than the DT Swiss 85/Disc, the former gold standard.

We’ll publish complete speed test data within the next 24 hours, but if you don’t want to wait, you can see the raw numbers on our public Google sheet.

Release Notes

Zwift supplied these additional release notes:

  • Fixed an issue that might result in FIT files being corrupted
  • Android only – Zwift no longer requires Location permissions for Bluetooth device scanning on Android 12 and newer.
  • Fixed a bug that caused repeated automatic pairing attempts on Apple platforms with devices requiring a secure BLE connection.

Oh, and I have only 4 hours left for a fully upgraded Cadex Tri (the most boring thing I did on Zwift).
Nevermind…

Agreed. I just spent August upgrading that bike (that is the one with the bottle under the seat, right? Would be a bummer not to get the upgrade or it to suddenly not be as good as others that just got released.

I had been planning on buying the new Shimano Disc wheels this week. I’m wondering if it’s a good thing I waited

Depending on the course, there are a couple other wheel sets that look to be better.

Hmm, looks like the new Black Inc, Reserve and Cadex wheels are a bit more aero but heavier than the Shimano Dura Ace Disc.

Of those 3, Cadex are about 1s slower than the Reserve on the flats and 2s faster than the Shimano, while being 1s slower than the Shimano and 11s(!) faster than the Reserve climbing (slightly better than Black Inc in both categories).

Also looks like spending August updating the Speedmax CFR may or may not have been waste as the Factor Hanzo is now 3 s faster over an hour but is a fair bit heavier.

I suppose the Speedmax would probably be the right choice for next week’s ZRL TTT (why or why, if they’re only going to put a single TTT in the season, did they choose a hilly TTT?) even if I had them both fully upgraded, so I can decide whether to get/upgrade the Factor later.

Additionally, at least the Speedmax CFR still has the bottle under the seat, so I can try to fulfill my dream of getting a view 4 image with the riders lined up so it looks like the guy behind me in the paceline is drinking from my bottle. That’ll totally be worth it.

Cadex 4-spoke sound like they’re the best choice for next week’s ZRL TTT and probably the only one I’d buy for a while (maybe get the Reserve eventually for pan flat races once I build up my bank again – depleted it buying/upgrading the Project 74 and then buying a lot of bikes/wheels this spring/summer that became obsolete on the next update).

I guess I’m glad I put off buying the Shimanos. I’d been planning on getting them right before the TTT race in case of a new release, and my patience was rewarded. Maybe you can call that learning my lesson?

Just like the routes, you get them knocked out and more come…but upgrading these bad boys sure take some time/dedication.

What does “updated specialized shiv disc” mean exactly? Same frames we’ve had but faster? Different paint job?

One more question, looking at the data sheet, the upgrades for the existing frames/wheel sets don’t look to be added yet. Is this correct?

My Zwift Client didn’t update yet.
Would it be a good idea to buy the Canyon Speedmax now before it gets more expensive?
Or would I have to buy the bike a second time after it got upgraded?
