Tiny Race Series Details: Current Routes, Recent Results, and More

December 21st Routes: Watopia-Makuri Punch

Two races in Watopia, followed by two races in Makuri Islands. All on custom-length routes, with some punchy climbs on offer!

Race 1: Muir and the Mountain (5.1km, ends atop Titans Grove KOM Reverse)
This will be a topsy-turvy start through the uphill rollercoaster of Titans Grove which includes a ride-through tree and Jarvis the perenially unlucky bear. It’s all going to come down to the final ~90-second climb up the KOM, though.
Powerup: none
Race 2: Volcano Circuit CCW (4.84km, ends at lap start banner)
Most of this course is flattish, but the finish is one of the most technical in all of Zwift. First you have the longish ramp that saps your legs and encourages early attacks… then there’s still a few hundred meters of twisting, slightly uphill road. Good legs will keep you in contention, but timing will get you the win!
Powerup: Aero Boost (1x)
Race 3: Valley to Mountaintop (3.5km, ends at temple partway up KOM)
This route is mostly dirt, beginning with the beautiful “Golden Forest” section and ending partway up the Temple KOM. You may want to dust off your gravel bike for this one…
Powerup: none
Race 4: Wandering Flats (6.1km, ending in Neokyo tunnel)
This is the “easiest” of the week’s routes in terms of climbing, but we predict a drawn-out sprint finish as riders rev up their steamrollers in the dirt and go long to the tunnel.
Powerup: Steamroller (1x)

Temporary Rule Notice: Category Sandbagging

Until Zwift begins enforcing which pen you can enter at race time, we may disqualify flagrant offenders who sandbag by racing in a group lower than their current Zwift Racing Score would allow.

This is to help keep racing fair and fun, especially in the E and D categories, where infrequent/new racers tend to show up and blow apart the race.

Here’s how we handle the DQ’s:

  • We typically only look at riders who finish in the top 5 overall in each category after 4 races.
  • If you finish race 4 with a Zwift Racing Score 25+ points over the limit for the category you raced and also started race 4 over limit, you are DQ from race #4 so you can’t win the overall.
  • If you finish race 4 with a Zwift Racing Score 50+ points over the limit for the category you raced and also started race 4 over limit, you are DQ from that race and any other race on the day you started over the category limit. (At that point, we assume you knew what you were doing, and it’s simply not fair to the other racers.)

ZwiftPower Results

Zwift displays the finish order in game when you cross the line, but points are computed after all four races are finished, with final results on ZwiftPower. (We have to do some data processing on our side to compute results, so if your rankings don’t show up right away, be patient.)

Riders earn points based on finish position in each of the 4 Tiny Races. The category winner of each week is the rider with the most points across their zone’s 4 races. Here are the links for each zone’s latest results on ZwiftPower:

Rules

Tiny Race rules are simple, but still every week ~10% of our racers get disqualified. Don’t let that be you! Four races, four rules:

  1. You must have a ZwiftPower account, because final results are processed by ZwiftPower (learn how to sign up)
  2. No skipping then returning. These races are meant to be raced as a set of 4. If you need to leave early, that’s fine… but once you miss a race in your hour’s set of 4, don’t come back and race another or you’ll be disqualified from that race since you rested while others were racing! (Example: racing only races 1 and 2 is fine. Racing 1, 2, and 4 is not – you will be DQ from race 4.)
  3. Heart rate monitors are required.
  4. Smart trainer/smart bike or power meter required. ZPower/Virtual power is not allowed.

Join a Chat & Chill Cooldown

Immediately following each hour’s racing we’ve scheduled 30-minute “Chat & Chill” events where riders from all categories can spin their legs together and chat about how it all went down. Find them at zwift.com/events/tag/tinyraces.

Zwift Insider Kit Unlock

Finish any Tiny Race or a Chat & Chill ride and unlock the Zwift Insider “Ride Smarter // Ride Harder” in-game kit.
