“Red Rock Loop” Route Details (Gravel Mountain)
This route covers Zwift’s experimental “all dirt” world in a counterclockwise direction. It uses some Zwift trickery to make the gravel feel extra-fast, while keeping actual speeds realistic and .fit files accurate.

You’ll want an aero gravel frame and aero gravel wheels for this rolling, fast route!
Route Description
Turning right from the start pens, we quickly hit the lap banner and begin a series of s-curves which make up the biggest climb of the circuit.
At the top, you’ll ride through the first rock arch of the circuit, then begin a series of off-camber turns before beginning the next of two short climbs which bring you up to the flat back section of the circuit, winding beneath a massive red rock shelf past the waterfall.
When you see the warning sign to turn a hard right, the final descent is about to begin! This corkscrew road delivers you to the circuit’s flat finishing straight. You can see the banner in the distance… go go go!

Hmm, the gravel mountain loop is 2x the length of this and has exactly the same shape, is the zwift magic just doubling speed or somthing like that?
Something like that. Compressing GPS coordinates or something…
The gps coords also overlap with crit city, why would they do that?
It’s basically a gravel crit course so kinda makes sense
Overlapping though? I could see if they put it beside, but overlapping is bad.
It’s sad that they took what was a nice 5k gravel route and made it smaller. gravel is about exploring, not crit racing. Ah well, at least it’s “dirt’
Just awful. I finished the Pas race and the screen jitters are so bad that you will get motion sickness. I had a headache after 30 minutes. Unless they change the visuals, ride this course once for the badge and to see what you are not missing.
Pace was way to high too. Something also seems wrong with drafting. This route needs a lot of fixes..
Dear Zwift, please make this a running route. Throw us a crumb every so often.
It is. There is a new running badge on it.
Still “experimental”? Is this the same world that is being tested for a few years already?
Wow. That was a completely new experience. A new Zwift world opens and after 4 minutes I have no desire to ever ride there again.
Did the very first PAS race event on this course and Zwift way over tweaked the GPS coordinate compression or whatever they did to make this feel faster. it ruined the experience. Avatars were bouncing, i got run into the rocks somehow, steering was off, pack dynamics seemed off. I can’t believe this was tested and they said “yep this is what we were aiming for”
The Pas racing thing was just insane. It needs fixing, that cannot be intentional?
really nice and new experience in my opinion but too fast. Instead of x2 speed, something like x1.5 speed would be enough.
rank not displayed during the course.
Bugs with routes need to be fixed too.
And the loop is too short I think. Once everything is fixed, I will love to race it again.
Ya, I don’t get all the hate. Nice to see Zwift trying something new. And I think people are missing the strategy involved in steering to the right line with the different gradients. There definitely were some bugs with racers jumping off course. But overall I thought it was good. I will say my race had about 15 riders. I watched a much larger race and was much more chaotic.
This was a mess, on several levels.
For smaller groups, the “speed” might be fine. But larger groups in a bunch, it’s, describable. Almost as bad as the Super Mario Crit with a large group.
Warning: Do not ride through boulders. Seems that if you do, you lose your live placing (not sure if it’s the boulder or a general bug, but I have seen it happen to others as well).
This was obviously rushed to get out for this date.
And what’s with the three new gravel bikes (and a wheel set) being released a day AFTER the series starts?
With that said, I kind of do like the course. But, you almost need steering IMO, to take advantage of the course.
I read the complaints here first but had to see for myself… Whoa!
I’m not sure what kind of gravel the devs have ridden, but in my experience it slows you down, not give you a huge dose of amphetamines 😆
I’m gonna hold off on spending drops on any gravel upgrades until I see where this goes
did anyone ever ask for extra fast gravel? Riding this made me glad I didn’t spend drops on the new gravel bikes 🫥
I really enjoyed the race today, but I agree that it felt too fast. But dang, the Southwestern scenery was wonderful to see….not perfect, but definitely fun.
Eric, at about 1:30 into your route video, I can’t believe you had your Zwift bot blow right past the 9-year-old junior and not slow down to let them draft off the bot. That’s just cruel. 🤣😉
Kids need to learn that life’s not fair! 😆
There’s still a hidden badge called “Red Rock Loop Arcade” distinct from the Red Rock Loop badge. I wonder if that is just the same as crit city arcade stuff added to the red rock loop? And when will zwift unveil those events.
I loved this experience on Gravel Mountain today.
I purchased my first ever in game gravel bike complete with wheel set and then locked and loaded for whatever came next!
New racing score
New FTP
New route for a sonic boom!
Looking forward to the next one!! #stayawesome!
So, weird this route.
1) No position numbers on the rider list on the right. Very confusing
2) Random swerving into bushes, that Pas Normal van and elsewhere
3) Really looked bumpy, especially when riders had the steamroller activated
4) Third person camera kept on swerving and over correcting, very disorienting
5) The speed visuals
6) Anything I’ve missed ?
Just raced it today (clockwise) – super fast course, really enjoyed the racing on it too.
“I tested the route today. It’s fast, but I experienced significant graphical lag and stuttering. My PC has high-end specs for gaming, so hardware shouldn’t be the problem, especially since it only happens on this specific route. It’s very disruptive as it makes it impossible to follow the action—you’re in the group one moment and dropped the next. Additionally, there are too many direction changes occurring without user control.”
Same experience here
Well I love gravel outdoors and was looking forward to this today, but should have pulled out after my first lap because I have a severe traumatic brain injury and this course just absolutely frustrated my brain and I end up having to ride sections of the course of my eyes closed.
I had planned to ride at the numerous times this week but after today there’s absolute no way and going the other way yet in four weeks time while I’ll wait to see reviews if they fix this course because otherwise I’ll have to miss the last race.
Because of my Brain Injury, I’m unable to ride outdoors any longer as 1 km of riding results in a need to have a nap for approximately one hour.
Today’s bad graphics etc. Caused me to end up being absolutely mentally fatigued at the end resulting in a few hours of sleep..
Extremely disappointing was looking forward to the gravel World and look forward to going back if they fix their problems.
Racing this tonight. Reading the comments it should be fun 🤪
Anyone else notice that on some of the really banked turns you get a different gradient? So the inner line or outer line might be less gradient change depending on the turn.
No races on the Red Rock anymore in the PAS series apparently. It’s on Jungle Circuit now.. for obvious reason I would say.
I race pas racing stage 1 on red rock loop twice yesterday. But on the zwift homepage, today, I still have 0/4 for PAS RACING SERIES 🤷🏻♂️
Now I understand why, thanks
Do I have to do the Jungle Circuit for it to count and the xp now then?!?
What are the odds that red rock loop never gets opened to zwifters ever again and enters legendary status?? Years from now: “It was only available for one day, only a few ever saw it!”
I’d say possible, but not probable. Sounds like they know what needs adjusting, and plan to do it quickly.
– We were riding gravel bikes down the canyon at the speed of light.
– Moooom, grandpa forgot to take his pills again.
did something change with this? The PAS racing series was supposed to be on Red Rock, but now they all seem switched to Jungle?
Yup, got switched due to poor race experiences in Gravel Mountain…
its a shame the red rock loop was pulled. Easily the most real world race experience for 99% of the Zwift racers including me. You feel like you are going fast, but really you aren’t.
its exactly like real life. I feel fast but I’m not . . .
Ref: “This route covers Zwift’s experimental “all dirt” world in a counterclockwise direction. It uses some Zwift trickery to make the gravel feel extra-fast”
Just to be pedantic; is the surface Gravel (as found on the Sgurr Summit North in Scotland) or Dirt (as found in e.g. Jungle Circuit) ?
