Beginning from the downtown Watopia start pier, Itza Climb Finish travels down into the Ocean Boulevard tunnel before turning left at Sequoia Circle and heading up the short, twisting climb toward Titans Grove and Saddle Springs. Then it’s down to the LAX roundabout, proceeding to the southern coast road for a fast, rolling ride along Watopia’s southern coast, complete with four sprint segments: Woodland, Sasquatch, Acropolis, and Stoneway.
It’s been a flat ride so far, but now it’s time for the spicy finish! Right around the 24km mark, after you turn right to leave the southern coast road, you’ll begin the finishing climb.
The final ~6km of this route is basically uphill and actually contains two separate KOM segments. First you’ll hit the Mayan Mountainside KOM, followed quickly by Itza KOM, whose banner marks the finish line for this one-way route. Good luck!

I am disappointed with most of your new routes designed around the grade. Only two of them complete a loop that is suitable for group riding. All other new routes start in one location and just end without forming a loop. In order for a group ride to succeeded the course requires a loop for longer distance, endurance rides.
??? … only the three event only routes are point to point – all of the main 8 free-rideable ones loop. You could go around them forever …
Why don’t you complain to Zwift then, rather than ZI?
How can you have an “event only” route with no events scheduled?
Exactly my question!! The ‘itza climb’ ‘itza after party’ ‘mayan san remo’ ‘queen’s highway reverse’ & ‘perimeter reverse’ are never or rarely on any scheduled events and you can’t create a meet up or an event to ride these routes. What am I missing?
I did look on ZwiftHacks for these events… noticed that the only groups scheduling some of these routes are ‘invitation only’ and/or the event doesn’t show up on my companion app.
Some of these routes had some events around the time they were first released….but if you missed those then you are kinda out of luck. If they are gonna creat event only badge routes then they need to make sure there are a decent amount of events that keep going past the first bit when they are new routes.
Asked Zwift why some of the event only routes are not available. They said, “Mayan San Remo, Itza Climb, and Itza Party are currently only available to be scheduled by Zwift at specific times, in this case, you only can wait until there is an event where these are available.”
So…as you stated, I don’t see the logic in having badges that can’t be earned except on rare occasions. Plus, I live in Japan so if there is a rarely scheduled route that shows up in the middle of the night, am I supposed to wake up, do the route?
After that response from Zwift, I’m out of the ‘event only’ badge hunt. Demotivating!
These 3 routes are now available to community event organizers. I will be using one of them (Itza Climb Finish) for an event soon. Hopefully other leaders will do the same.
There’s something to be said for having routes which are rarely used, and therefore making the badges special. The same as e.g. a hat I got for an event years ago that no-one else can get now. Maybe some people want to ‘complete’ Zwift, which I understand, but having some special rarities seems fun to me.
I’m glad to see the event only routes becoming available.
I looked at completing the available badges as an achievable goal, so provided motivation. If they are more like missions or kit that become unachievable or rare, then completing badges isn’t really an achievable goal. This makes the counter at the top of the achievements page, showing how many badges available/how many earned, a bit misleading. IMO, badges shouldn’t be the same as missions or kit that you can only get at special times.
Bottom line, Zwift is just a game, so I’m not losing sleep over badges. But I set ‘badges achieved’ as a motivator so feels to me like they should always be able to be achieved.
Love the endurance climbs at the end. Looking forward to this one!
