“Cirque du Suffer” Route Details (Paris)
This one is silly, but after all the Rebel Routes we’ve created, we can’t help but love it. Around and around we go, 50 laps of the Arc de Triomphe with a sprint finish!
Some riders have complained of dizziness after lots of fast laps, but in our opinion, the only thing not to like here is that it’s a point-to-point route, meaning it can’t host multi-lap events.
Pro tip: steering definitely shortens the laps, and this could matter a lot in races. Read all about it here >

Route Description
Starting from the Paris start pens, you’ll turn left and head straight up the Avenue des Champs-Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe. And that’s where the magic begins…
You’ll turn right at the top, then stay left for the next ~18.5km as you complete 50 laps of the Arc de Triomphe! That’s right… 50 laps.
Once that’s done, you’ll hang a right to head down the other side of the Champs-Élysées, going through the Lutece Reverse Sprint on your way to the lap banner, which marks the finish of the route.

Perfect route. No notes
It appears to be point-to-point for no reason. Would be 11/10 if it could be lapped.
Agreed. They should have made it loopable.
Instant rebel route submission 😀
Once you’ve done the 50 laps and the sprint, it takes you round Concorde, then back up to the roundabout for another 50 laps, then diverts you off for another sprint. So you can keep going (I did two complete laps yesterday, I assume more would be possible!)
Can you u-turn the loop and stay in it without direction input or do you need to select the correct turns/directions to stay in it in reverse. Would be fun to swim up stream.
For team races it could be done as like an Omnium with teammates giving you draft and dragging you to put a “lap” on the field a few times a race 😀
Should have a CW version.
I cant wait for the robopacers on this route
going to be fast times
Ah, the long-awaited velodrome.
Let me guess, best bike is a time trial bike?
For pretty much any route yes, unless it’s a pure climb or you are drafting a group (TT bikes don’t normally draft).
It depends on how many people are riding the route. Since everyone will be in a small space for the vast majority of the ride, unless it is empty you likely will be drifting. So for any group event, race or even since is new an aero bike likely is best. I ended up drafting almost the whole 50 laps even though I am slower than average.
Lap counter, lap times and loopable – and it would be perfect 🙂
I agree. A lap counter would be nice.
What a waste, funny yes, but would have been better to have a TdF route leading into Paris
At least this route is funny, check out the two 70km paris routes, just looping around many times. Must be super boring routes.
Is there any type of a lap counter during a race?
Does the “Scotty the Squirrel” balloon stay in the same spot?
Great route 😂
Doing a workout with short intervals is interesting, the lap banner dances around you and you pass it 3-4 times before you reach the end of the interval – which is both fun and !?#@ing irritating
Can’t wait for the TTT. I hope it’s winter and there are 20 teams on it 😱😂
This looks to be quite neurotic, the things we do for a badge…lol
Brilliant route. I use it for track racing training
What is the rolling resistance on this route? Are the cobbles treated like pavement or are they slower than pavement?
