First used in stage 7 of the 2012 Tour de France, this climb proved popular and has been used several times since. It also featured as the finish of the final stage in the 2022 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift.

Named for the ski station at its summit, the “super” version of this climb adds an unpaved, brutally steep finishing ramp to the already difficult climb. It was first used in the Tour de France in 2019 and lengthens the ride by ~1 kilometer while adding ~100 meters of climbing.
