This Pyrenean climb is part of the so-called Circle of Death along with the Tourmalet, Aubisque, and Aspin. First appearing in the Tour de France 1910, it has made regular appearances ever since.
The Peyresourde can be climbed in two directions via the D618: from the east via Bagnères-de-Luchon or from the west via Avajan.
Zwift’s climb comes from the west, which is the shorter, steeper, and less scenic direction. It emulates the 2024 Tour’s 15th stage, which begins with this climb straight out of the gate, starting in Loudenvielle on Bastille Day.
