Like its big brother the Koppenberg, the Paterberg is a cobbled climb known for its inclusion in the Tour of Flanders spring classic. Both climbs are fairly straight, but cobbled, with steep pitches over 20% in the middle.
A bit of Paterberg trivia: this section of road was unpaved and relatively unknown until 1986, when a local farmer cobbled the road because he wanted the Tour of Flanders to pass by his house. Well played, sir! The Paterberg has been included every year since.
