Route Description
Events on this route begin in the Prospect Park start pens, with riders traveling clockwise around the upper half of the park. The arch just up the road for The Hill KOM serves as the official start/finish line for the course.
Soon after traveling through that arch, you’ll turn right onto Center Drive, where you’ll hit the Center Sprint Reverse segment then turn right again to return to the main loop. A left takes you out of Prospect Park and into Grand Army Plaza before descending Flatbush Avenue and entering the subway tunnel.
(Zwift’s Brooklyn subway is noteworthy for its gritty graffiti, but also because it was built with glass and open ceilings that let in the sunlight, allowing greenery to flourish inside. A subway-esque sort of greenway, hence the route name.)
Test your peak power by taking on the 5-second Power Segment, the first of four Power Segments on this route. Then climb out and head over the Manhattan Bridge, which includes another sprint segment if you’re so inclined. (Tourist tip: in our opinion, the view of the skyline from this bridge, in this direction, is the best of the four bridge views you’ll see on this course.)
You’ll find Manhattan on the other side, but you’ll also be turning around quickly and starting the Brooklyn Bridge KOM, which ends midway across the bridge at its peak height. While not particularly steep, this is the biggest climb on the route. Finish it, descend back into the Brooklyn subway, and you can take on a 20-second Power Segment before climbing out and heading back to Prospect Park.
These roads might feel familiar now, because you’re riding the same clockwise loop of upper Prospect Park that you started with, then heading back toward the bridges via the same subway tunnels.
But this time, you’ll be crossing the East River via the Brooklyn Bridge, then returning via the Manhattan Bridge. Got the legs for another sprint? Go for it!
Then it’s down into the subway one last time for another go at that 20-second Power Segment before climbing up Flatbush to Grand Army Plaza, and back into Prospect Park to sprint through the finish line arch. You did it!
