Poggio di San Remo, aka “the Poggio”, isn’t a particularly long, steep, or scenic climb. But it’s been made famous because it features at the end of the 300km Milan-San Remo classic, Italy’s biggest single-day race.
While the race leading up to this climb can be rather uneventful, everyone knows the Poggio thru to the finish is the must-watch portion of the race. You’ll see riders battle for position leading into the climb, then they hang a right-hand turn off the Corso Giuseppe Mazzini and the fireworks begin.
Watch Mathieu van der Poel attack and eventually win over the Poggio in the 2023 edition of MSR, following in his grandfather’s footsteps:

Might have a run up that.
Not sure why this has popped up in my timeline, it’s not scheduled in the portal planner as far as I can see.
Zwift added the Poggio in this week’s game update, hence us publishing this post. As to when it will be scheduled into the rotation by Zwift… we’ll have to wait and see. Maybe they’ll feature some Italian climbs during the Giro this year?
It should be set for March. It’s pretty fast.
emotional youtube clip that one…
If you honestly believe anyone in the pro peleton is riding clean, I can make you a sweet deal on some prime real estate I own in Florida.
Just like on Zwift, I am learning no one rides their actual weight.
