Located in the heart of the Pyrenees, the Hautacam is a ski resort during the winter. It is surrounded by epic cycling climbs, and while it may not be as long as nearby behemoths like Col du Tourmalet, it still packs a healthy punch!
The Hautacam is very comparable to Alpe du Zwift, a climb familiar to many Zwifters. One fun challenge is trying beat your Alpe du Zwift time up the Hautacam, or vice versa.
This climb has a somewhat checkered past. Several Tour de France riders who have had standout performances on this mountain were later sanctioned for doping, including Lance Armstrong and former KOM holder Bjarne Riis.
This climb was added to Zwift’s Climb Portal to be featured in July 2025 at the same time as the pro men would race it for the finish of stage 12 of Le Tour.
