This pearl of a climb is nestled in the Massif du Sancy in France’s rugged Auvergne region, winding through summer pastures sculpted by time and the elements with panoramic views of the Auvergne volcanoes.
Despite the switchbacks, Col de la Croix Saint-Robert maintains a very steady grade ~6%. It’s the perfect length for training at steady power in sweetspot or threshold zones.
This climb was added to Zwift’s Climb Portal to be featured in July 2025 at the same time as the pro men would race it in stage 10 of Le Tour. The only difference is the pros descended this road after climbing up the other side!
