Poggio di San Remo, aka “the Poggio”, isn’t a particularly long, steep, or scenic climb. But it’s been made famous because it features at the end of the 300km Milan-San Remo classic, Italy’s biggest single-day race.
While the race leading up to this climb can be rather uneventful, everyone knows the Poggio thru to the finish is the must-watch portion of the race. You’ll see riders battle for position leading into the climb, then they hang a right-hand turn off the Corso Giuseppe Mazzini and the fireworks begin.
