“Col d’Aspin” Details (Zwift Climb Portal)

Key Details

The middle link in a chain of three road climbs in the Pyrenees (the others being Col de Peyresourde and Col du Tourmalet), Col d’Aspin connects Sainte-Marie-de-Campan, in the upper Adour valley, with the commune of Arreau, on the River Neste. Zwift’s Climb Portal segment mirrors the more difficult ascent from Arreau.

This popular climb features regularly in the Tour de France, and has been raced well over 70 times since its introduction in 1910.

Here’s an IRL segment that covers most of Zwift’s climb:

The initial rampas inhumanas at 75% seems a bit sketchy, to be honest. On the other hand, Zwift found some 29% patches on the Tourmalet so what do I know :).

Having ridden both of those IRL this year, their GPS data was garbage. It clearly was points up above the road on the slope. There’s no pitches like that on those climbs. I was shocked when I hit those pitches in Zwift.
